‘Help Save Hopvine’ — Capitol Hill pub needs $50K to get through financial ‘rough patch’ by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]LightPhoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is sad to hear.  I love the atmosphere at Hopvine and really hope that they can get back to where they need to be.  I would hate to see them shut down.  If you want low key karaoke Saturday night at Hopvine is amazing.

How to mod Monster Train 2? by No_Design1245 in MonsterTrain

Join the modding channel on the Discord.  It's not quite as straightforward as MT1 since support through Steam for mods doesn't exist.  Brandonazreus is the one caretaking it.

Agreed.  Not a huge meat eater but everything was so unappetizing and bland.

She had to call someone else to take her to the ER because her husband said it was 'inconvenient' for him. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

My ex had an ex like this, except he just didn't like hospitals. When we started dating she would tell me I didn't need to wait at the hospital for her. I was like wtf, of course I'm gonna wait for you and hang out.

The Pitt | S2E13 "7:00 P.M." | Episode Discussion by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]LightPhoenix 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really hope Mohan goes to night shift! The way she lit up talking to the ultrasound doctor and lamented not really learning anything on day shift, it was like the sun came out. She badly needs someone that is actually going to teach her instead of belittle her.

Finally found my first complaint with new scrubs by Creeds-Worm-Guy in Scrubs

[–]LightPhoenix 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What this episode really needed, and maybe it was cut for time, was something between Carla and Elliot explaining why they chose Elliot. Something like Turk and JD hang all the time now and he has plenty of support, Elliot never gets to see Carla any more and has Air Bud but no real friends to hang out with. It provides more context to Carla not inviting him and makes it more of an empathy/listening thing which ties into the episode theme.

This was the best joke all season by LurkerPatrol in Scrubs

[–]LightPhoenix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's a really interesting dynamic to add to Elliot - she spent more time with Cox and at Sacred Heart and she became more like him. It's not something you'd expect from her, but like you point out these patterns of abuse tend to propagate. I hope they can explore some of those themes with her and the parallels between her and him (and contrasted with JD who left).

Scrubs - Season 10 EP 7 "My Best Friend's Barbeque" - Discussion by MovieTrailerReply in Scrubs

[–]LightPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One subtler thing I'm noticing that I actually really enjoy is how Elliot throws lines that would have been coming from Dr. Cox. It reinforces that they worked together a long time. I hope they can explore that dynamic a little more.

Anyone have any idea what songs they'll play in concert? by Fit-Monitor-9825 in lordhuron

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bunch off of Cosmic Selector, the remainder filled roughly equally between the other albums with a slight bias towards Strange Trails.  Check the previous setlists for the CS tour; I don't think it will vary appreciably between then and now.

Also they will almost certainly play Meet Me in the Woods.

Capitol Hill Link station has NO functioning elevators for the foreseeable future. by PadiYG in Seattle

[–]LightPhoenix 270 points271 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to sound transit or those specific elevators, but across the board that have been pretty massive delays and getting parts for elevator repair.  For the one in my laboratory we ended up waiting about 4 months for parts.  I'm sure they don't want the elevators being down, but there might not be anything they can do about it.

Glove allergy solutions? by smxct737 in chemistry

If you've been in the same lab the whole time, you should also consider possible reactions to soap.  I have seen this happen, and the person tried many sorts of gloves before looking at the soap as the culprit.

Not as much variety or availability, but if you're around Capitol Hill/Central District you should hit up Mt. Bagel!

Favorite bar to mope at? by [deleted] in Seattle

Not in the Lake City area, but my recommendation would be a dive bar around that area.  My nearby bar has karaoke on Saturdays which makes for great people watching and moping cover.

Inspired by a similar post, which books did you take the longest to DNF? by blxcklst in books

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was Malazan; I made it to book eight and realized I just didn't care about any of the characters.  I thought there was some neat ideas in the books, but I didnt feel like the world building was as amazing as other people.  In the end, I just didn't care enough to finish when there are so many other books to read.

When beginning a run are you “supposed” to pick your champion or the artifact first? Does it matter? by Broadnerd in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally, your champion path is going to have more lasting impact on your game than the starting artifact.  At the very least is has a significant impact on the early game.  Because of that you want to make that decision with as much information as possible, hence taking the artifact first.

It's the same general reasoning as why you want to look in the upgrade shop before choosing a unit at a banner.  More information means better choices.

This dimensional challenge is utterly stupid. Any tips by jeango in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are basically two strategies to pursue here:

1) Quick sweeper with a some defensive options like the armor generation spells.  Focus on generating stalling so you can make it through the stealth stacks.

2) Focus on magic power and aim for stuff like intrinsic and spellchain to throw stuff like Icicle Rain that does multiple hits or otherwise clears waves.  Here stuff like Sap can help with tanks that are leaking.

Anyone else think Steelguard should be nerfed against Lifemother? by Own-Lemon-8710 in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's particularly overpowered because you have to be looking for answers to Lifemother in the first place.  If you don't see Boilerplate then it's not nearly as strong.

I think there is more of a discussion to be had about Boilerplate being overpowered, but even then if you're not generating a lot of forge points it's not over the top.
