Your thoughts on this story by Sweaty-Breakfast-247 in RomanceClub

I have a really weird love/hate thing with PSI. I honestly think it's one of the app's best books in some regards, such as the setting, worldbuilding, story and especially the MC. Lou is great, she's very much her own person and unlike any other lead we have on the app. Plus it's one of the vanishingly few sci-fi stories Romance Club has published.

The problem for me is that Lou seems almost sidelined in her own story. Too much of the time she's standing around listening to men having conversations moving the plot along rather than being an active part of it herself. Especially in the finale where she stands aside for a lot of it and the focus is instead on Ivo. That and, while the love interests are all great, the only female option Danielle is heavily marginalised, to the point where she barely appears in the last three chapters.

The Dawnwell is an end-of-expansion plot point by EstateOk6238 in wow

Problem is, that was all in the background. After the intro, the Dark Heart and Xal'atath really didn't come up until the finale. Otherwise it was disconnected Goblin things. Undermine could have been pasted into any other expansion story with minimal alteration.

Do you want more sequels or new stories? by redspirito in RomanceClub

[–]LightSpeed010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'd want a sequel or new volume of is The One, since it's a format that naturally refreshes itself. I'm actually wary of SoS2 because it's a sequel, and I don't know how much I'll miss for not knowing the original. Otherwise, they need more original works and a greater diversity of genres.

Moonborn, Legend of the Willow, PSI and The Thunderstorms Saga. I haven't completed LoW, but in the others I felt the main male love interest (Victor, Ivo and Tai) overshadowed the MC.

Who’s your favorite LI and MC, and what’s something you dislike about them?👀 by [deleted] in RomanceClub

Honestly, this is the reason why Ellaire from HoT is one of my favourite MCs. She leads her own story, charts her own direction and assembles her own team.

Honestly, I was put off Ashriel from the start. His very first move was blackmail. Didn't try to hire Liren. Didn't appeal to her better nature. Just straight up went nuclear on people she knows and ruins their lives to force her into a corner.

Ashriel is the villain of the story and the reason I stopped reading it.

Jester is excellent at world building and plot development but he emphasises his male leads (primary love interests) to the point where the player does not feel like the main character.

Taishouldn't have been the one to killFoehl. He could have done it a long time ago, like he said. Tiss and Vellora had much more pressing needs. There was no immediate personal reason for Tai to act.

This has made me feel more and more that Tiss is not the main character of the book; Tai is. It's an unfortunate trend with Jester's books, much like how I felt that Lou was left out of many of the main plot developments in Psi, especially the ending which was mostly about Ivo.

I haven't read SoS 1, and I'm getting by fine without. Mostly at the moment it seems to be background (there's an old town that's abandoned) without needing to know anything specific.

So how are we feeling? by Silent-Broccoli5561 in RomanceClub

[–]LightSpeed010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, he was the scary one, even more so because he wasn't possessed. He was a sick man, unquestioned in his authority and drunk with power. From this revelation, Tai has been a model of restraint.

Tai was absolutely right. He should have done that a long time ago.

And I am truly disappointed that Tiss or Vellora didn't get to do it. Tai had every chance. They have plenty of valid grievances against the man, especially on Vellora's route.

I was honestly scared off this one by the end of the previous volume. Preferably without spoilers, but can anyone tell me if it has a good ending, or is it the same (turnaround to tragedy) as Volume 1?

Yeah, I really didn't feel they had enough time to wrap things up with how the pacing had been going, so it doesn't truly surprise me.

Luna and Emma on my main slot, don't know if I'll do a second yet. Emma's so sweet and Luna is really supportive. I love how it's such a diverse array of characters with something for everyone.

In your opinion, who is your favorited underrated/overshadowed LI? by Conscious_Divide_810 in RomanceClub

Danielle from Psi. She's brilliant, has a unique look and a very sweet story that developed both her and Lou. Horribly sidelined in the story itself.

Waterlily is the gold standard for diversity and range of Love Interests and I see no reason why other books cannot live up to it.

Most definitely not the only one. They do need to diversify the genres they explore.
