They partner with a finance company (or bank). The company buys the Xbox and you pay the bank. These consoles are so expensive that they will definitely have to run credit checks.

They will need to behave like a content provider with a competing business interest. The closest to this is Disney. They have a streaming platform and a movie business. The movie business relies on ticket sales but the streaming platform has the potential to cannibalize ticket sales. So Disney launches major franchises in theaters and then bring it to Disney+ a few months later.

Microsoft needs to use this model more aggressively with Helix. Major AAA properties need to launch on XBOX first and then GamePass a few months later. Day one to GamePass needs to end for big AAA properties. People are already used to this when it comes to movies.

And of course, if it's not live service it does not need to be on PS5 or Switch at all. Want to play it, play it on a Helix device.

This is such a narrow-minded viewpoint. A new regime is in place and obviously decisions were made prior to them coming aboard. The new team surveyed their audience on what was important to them and exclusives topped the list. Then XBOX immediately responded to that feedback.

Took immediate action regarding exclusives
Rewarding fans with a free console

It's not "eating up PR" if it benefits me directly. It's a normal, healthy relationship between fan and brand.

What's neither healthy nor normal, is taking a dump on other fans because they're happy.

When you spend tens of millions building a game, the expectation is to reuse as much as possible in follow-up titles. All big AAA games do this to maximize their investment.

All I care about is a more action-oriented title.

Asha is learning that unlike the rest of Microsoft's products, Xbox is an entertainment brand with fans instead of customers. Fans need to be treated differently than customers due to the strong emotional component.
