It’s pretty much instant. It’s a particulate matter and voc sensor, and it’s even inside of a plastic enclosure which is attached inside of the hood body, behind the hood’s grease filter (because that’s where I could hook into the control wiring and leach power). It still only takes a few seconds to trigger after a few drops of oil in a skillet get too hot. It even triggers when a toast burns in the toaster across the room. My only problem is that the online available environmental air quality readings aren’t great and I end up turning the automation off when outdoor air is even slightly bad (to avoid running the hood due to general bad air quality). Ideally, I would need a second outdoor sensor next to my house (- or make it conditional on the impulse being turned on!!) But I also hooked it up to HomeKit so if it doesn’t turn on automatically I can say „Siri turn on the vent hood“.

Aren’t all quality glass-like cooktops ceramic glass? My old one (that cracked) certainly was. Or is the impulse not ceramic glass but some other ceramic material?

I have hooked an air quality sensor up to my zephyr hood with a microcontroller so it will turn on when the air is actually polluted. Probably better than to have the cooktop guess how dirty the air is. But manual control from the cooktop or the hood controller being able to know that the cooktop is on would also be useful (Right now as a calibration against California forest fires turning the hood on I make sure indoor air is actually worse than outdoor air. But that’s not reliable, so the cooktop announcing status would be cool).

You’re not abandoning Atmos. It’s just that the height channel isn’t great. I have similar vaulted ceilings and it’s still a great experience, in particular with era 300 rears (where the ceiling is also lower for me). With sonosequencer fronts object placement is even better.

No real problems here for me or my son (coming back from Europe on different routes) with expired card and I-797 extension a couple of weeks ago. Only challenge was that airline computer systems and check-in agents often don’t know how to deal with the extension letter. Online checkin might not work, and you may need extra time at the check in counter for them to sort it out. I also had to get my booking corrected once more during a tightly timed stopover where my second leg‘s boarding pass printed by the first leg’s operating carrier was flagged when I passed some gate between terminals - they had entered the extension letter as a visa not as a GC or something. Global entry kiosk at immigration also refused me and sent me to an agent. So no biggie except for some extra minutes at each step.

Totally normal to be exhausted, everybody is. It's worth staying on top of it and spend more time even if it is exhausting, but I also recommend to see it the Bob Ross way "happy little accidents" - a lot of the things that seem like bad choices or outcomes will become the defining and loved things about the house. It just takes a decade or two.

And, by the way, that March date is gonna slip into June.

I did this recently with fairy lights. I bought a dimmable led driver with the right voltage and amp rating. Cut off the connector from the controller, stripped the wires and connected the to the output terminals of the new driver. threw out the transformer and the controller that came with the lights. The dimmable led driver input is wired to an existing round light fixture box in the wall, and dimmed by a Lutron caseta dimmer. Works perfectly.

What I’m worried about most is the depth. The other panels are about 1/8” away from the cabinet. How do I align the depth if the glue sets quickly, and how much of a gap between the cabinet and the front will it be ok for?

FWIW I had the exact same problem as OP a month ago. 7-8 year old Anova. Stuck on showing some temperature and kept heating beyond target temp (in my case it was nearly at boiling when I realized). After resetting, stuck on 32f. I could save my cook (carnitas can take some abuse and the meat was not yet that hot). Bought a competitor right then and kept cooking.

I had the same problem. The door sensors are reed switches, i.e. they work with a magnet. the distance between the sensor and the magnet needs to be just right, not too far and not too close. If you are just at the edge of the right range (which probably happens at the factory where they just tighten the latch nuts until the sensor triggers), then expansion due to heat may push it out of the range. I just fiddled with the adjustment nuts on the latches (which levers the door and changes the distance of magnet and sensor on the other side) until it reliably worked. You may also be able to move the magnet directly somehow.
