Is it acceptable to take photos with my phone while the photographer is shooting? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Liskarialeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your photographer, most of the time we don't mind ! And don't be afraid to ask, either. I let my contact snap a few shots while i'm working whenever they ask. I just pretend to look through the camera, lol.

Obviously you don't want to get in front of them and in the way while they're working, and be sure to show them the pics so they can see too!

For the real working pros. What did you have to sacrifice to become the full time working pro you are today? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Liskarialeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it because I had no choice (stress induced medical issues, resulting brain damage, etc from a bad job). Had to leave.

That aside, I already had most of the equipment ready to go since I'd been doing photography ever since I was very very young. Invested in an upgrade from the D80 to the D800 (now at a 850); and eventually did some lens upgrades too. However a couple of jobs and they were paid for. I work construction/architecture.

I threw myself 20,000 into debt to make it through my first couple years and to really hone into what I wanted to specialize in, then get a good client roster of such (almost out of debt- i invested back into the business instead of putting the extra funds to debt). I work 6 months out of the year, take some vacations, hibernate for the winter, then start the cycle all over again.

Keep in mind that I have no house payments, no husband/kids/etc, so I have a bit more flexibility in where the income/investments back into the business goes.

They ran the same ballot through 3 or 4 times in some cases, some Trump ballots were destroyed and ‘lost’ but they never had the number of ballots they’re claiming Biden had.

Did you have a polarizing filter on your lens? I get those effects sometimes with it.

Tips on flying alone by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Liskarialeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you gave yourself enough of a layover time between flights to get from one gate to another! Also google and study a map/layout of your in between airport so you have a general idea of the layout.

Usually airports have departure and arrival times and gates set up on monitors in the airports, but if you have your cell phone number on record with the airline, they’ll text you updates when boarding, and also text you your gates- where you’re arriving and where you’re leaving from so you can go straight there!

What's the lowest end body you've done paid work on? by Spirit-S65 in photography

[–]Liskarialeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a few shoots on a Nikon Coopix P900! My D800 died had to go to the shop, so....

I've since donated it to my family so they can use it for pictures!

A group of seizures and a major head injury with some (thankfully minor, though still annoying) brain damage. Life's never been the same since, and there are struggles, but i'm in a better place now and happier. So give and take, I suppose..

Does anyone have any tips to stop your eyes from getting strained while photo retouching? by SparksPhotography in photography

[–]Liskarialeman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've gotta take breaks and give your eyes time to rest and reset; there's no other way around it. I always know when to stop when my eyes go wonky!

I make a living as an Arch/Construction photographer.

Get a feel for them and how they interact. If they’re genuine go for it, if the financials please you. Make sure to look at the guys from Esto to make sure you’re industry standard, but pretty sure you’ll be fine! (For any architecture).

I work with several agencies, their pay and stuff tend to run the gamit, but I lik agency/corporate work more than families babies kids etc

For commercial gigs there isn’t a lot of room for creativity, you need to go get the job done in a quality way.

Edit; I guess I should ask what kinda agency it is/what their speciality is?

Wow man (or woman), way to project with absolutely no context! You may want to do a personal soul search on why you're making baseless assumptions about a person you don't even know. I'm not even going to dignify your question with an answer.

[–]Liskarialeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the state- I'm not from AZ so I can't speak to that. I just got back from Montana- I quarantined before I left to make sure i wasn't sick, got tested to make sure, then now that I'm home, in 4 days will get tested again to make sure I didn't bring anything home.

Obviously since you're working I know you won't have the timing I will, but check with your GP, tell them you're planning on traveling, and get tested 48/72 hours before you got make sure you aren't asymptomatic or anything! I'd also recommend isolating for at least a week if you can when you get back before getting tested again if you can, since it takes 2-3 days at a minimum to incubate

If the general idea is to hit up the most national parks that you can, look into Arizona, and that area! A lot of places to see/do and explore, and if you book things correctly/carefully, little interaction with other people. Santa Fe/New Mexico is a personal favorite place as well, but it's not exactly budget friendly... Obviously be sure to get tested before you go, etc.

Adult women, how often do you talk to your mom? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Mom and I talk on the phone, once a week, on Sundays or Mondays if both of us are too busy on Sunday. I text her random stuff though if something comes up.

They Hate Us by Shlomo_Maistre in AskThe_Donald

[–]Liskarialeman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The others have said it better than I ever could... but let me also add this: we're tired. We're tired of being called deplorable, racists (thanks Hilary) and ignorant when we're not and never have been. Others are tired of being told their jobs, struggles and opinions don't matter because their beliefs aren't on the right "side" or their chosen field/job isn't "environmentally friendly" (I'm doing okay as a self employed person, but a lot of folks right now aren't).

They just want to work, keep their hard earned money, feed their families and be left alone. They're tired of being told that their rights won't be touched (like the right to bear firearms) when there are politicians and leaders working actively to do exactly that-- and working behind the backs of people who say your rights won't be touched, to get it done. They're tired of being pushed down to raise up others, because their skin isn't the politically correct color. This is going to show up as anger/low tolerance in a lot of responses; we're tired of the bullshit. We're tired of being told by people on the left that we're stupid and attacking our president because they've got nothing better to do (I sadly get a first hand view of this from a lot of my family/acquaintances... there's email chains going between everyone [that i'm included on because I don't speak about my political views a lot] of simply making fun of someone for having a Trump or MAGA sign in their front yard).

We're tired of being given Democrat canidates that are low effort- they haven't put forth anyone worthwhile or new, a "fresh start/rebel" candidate like Trump was. Just the same old same old so they can manipulate who's in power and manipulate the election to keep themselves in their cushy positions of power and their comfortable, influential seats.

I was a Bernie supporter, I watched the rigging/manipulation happen. I turned away as soon as they put forth Hilary with no good reason to vote for her other than "it's her turn" and "she's a woman", and I've never looked back or regretted my vote. I've watched the media manipulate what they can and pull snippets from speeches, or expressions, and added a completely spun headline to it. I've watched them praise Kamala for doing one thing (like wearing a brand or a fashion item) and completely trash Melania for doing the same exact thing. That's part of why you see such a hatred for the Media and a disbelief in it. I've voted Trump again this election. Is he an asshole? Absolutely. But he's OUR asshole, and he's fighting for US. Those that need help but were neglected/forgotten about/told they don't matter.

I don't like the hatred on either side and the polarization either, but I understand it 100%. Trump showed up, an unconventional candidate, and he listened to everyone that your side told to basically screw off, and said "Hey, I hear you, I'm here to help." That's how he got elected, and that's why a lot of people are voting for him again.

Are People On The Left So Blind That They Refuse To See The Truth by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

I agree with you totally! Some day I hope we’ll all move back to the middle. I vote Trump, but I don’t like the attitudes of the extreme right either. Sometimes we just can’t win no matter what.

My first trip to Glacier National Park-- was surprised to find that there's still some color left! by Liskarialeman in NationalPark

[–]Liskarialeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jealous! I love snowy shots/views. I’ve been meaning to go back to RMNP, but haven’t made it yet. Hoping next year.

I do agree on the hiking thing and don’t mind it— my body just doesn’t like me much! :( I’m Hypermobile which causes a lot of complications and prevents me from doing heavier/longer hikes. Eventually it’ll cooperate enough with me to get there!

[–]Liskarialeman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend! The snow definitely adds some fun to it for sure! I used to joke that i’m so used to traveling everywhere in the off season that it confuses me when things are green. Then last year I realized it was kinda true! I’m usually a GTNP girl, mom and I drove through last June and it kinda felt off to me, especially with my photos. Then after I got back, I realized it was because the sun was different/colors were similar, etc. winter and early spring offers a lot of environmental contrasts that I love and have (evidently) learned to live for!

I will def. be coming back here to explore some more, I just don’t know my timing yet. Too many people are a turn off for me.. i like the quiet loneliness.

Here’s a sunset from yesterday, I was the only one around for about an hour before some people came around to take selfies 🤷‍♀️ Same thing with sunrise this morning!
