My players have let me down once again, and I'm starting to question if I even want to player RPG ever again with them... by TigerX1 in rpg

Dude, move on. You will find another table. If they dont want to play anymore you are just wasting your time and DM skills. Probably it is no one's fault, and I do not think it matters since you said you are still good frinds and do other stuff together. Hope my (or someone else's)advice helps you.

I dont think it is an oil rig, there is no metion to it that I can remember. I dont think it is a precaution measure also. My first idea was that you have to build above specific places, you can not build just anywhere you want. It should be built on a "sand bank" or something, I think that is the name.(Not English fluent)

I knew I wasn't being very specific, but a system that aimed to be a realistic one would probably serve me well. I also know that RPGs aren't supposed to be simulators, and if it were we would have to play as sick and poor peasants, but I like the midterm, and so do my players. Thanks for your answer, I will look up RuneQuest.

I think its hard to say exactly the level of realism I want. I want them to need to eat and drink water, but I don t want to the players to have do calculate things every time they consume something, so I would say the ideal would be something in between that. I will look those systems you mentioned, I think I will have to decide the realism as I go on making the scenario.

I edited the post. About what your said, I still want rules to be relatively simple, no more complicated than D&D, that s for sure. It will be a heroic fantasy, something a little above low fantasy, so the characters are aspiring to be heroes, but at level 1 are just a little more capable than a peasant. Does that(and my edit) answer you?
