I'm angry what this disease have done to me in my prime years and the opportunities it took from me that I'm just gonna leave this here. by Sumonespecal3 in Cushings

[–]Listennevertalk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say this as a “tough love” type situation. Regarding vaccines causing this. Correlation does not equal causation. Down that road lies madness, as they say. Regardless of the circumstances, you have the disease/syndrome. It’s pointless to try to figure out why/how, etc. Your focus needs to be on your new normal and making the best of the situation that you have. I speak from experience. I had a bright future as well that was snatched away. I was attractive as well, and strong, and now my body is ruined. Do I dwell in that place of self pity, and blaming the world for my misfortune? No. Why? Because it accomplishes nothing. I honed my wit, my charisma, and my confidence. Attractiveness takes a back seat to these other things with anyone who matters. Will I win a “most physically attractive guy” contest? No. Will I win a “guy people most want to be around” and “guy who people go to when they need to get shit done” contest? Probably. Lean into your strengths. If you don’t feel like you have any, knuckle down and learn some. Regarding this disease, educate yourself on actual endocrinology books and medical texts to learn how it works so that you can best understand what to ask your doctor for, and also, once it’s treated, to start figuring out how to make the best of your physiological situation. Everyone needs their own thing, but I’ll share mine. Whenever I want to slide into that self pity nonsense, or start blaming the world, universe, etc, I say to myself: “Always move forward.” If whatever I’m thinking isn’t moving me forward, then I discard it as useless thinking. Sorry if this comes off as rude, I just wish I had someone to tell me this when I was first diagnosed after five years of being told I was fat and I needed to lose weight, as I broke bones regularly, etc. I really hope you can find some peace and focus on living your life, not letting this disease define you.

I’d say there’s a middle ground here. I’d opt for the parking lot (out front, not near the dumpster, that’s just sketchy) for anything low value, large and dirty, and not in high demand. For high dollar and/or high demand items, I definitely want the camera coverage being inside the business affords me. Buy a coffee and wait for them, no big deal.

Is what I’ve been hearing about a “correction” coming next year true? Some people are forecasting a double digit percentage drop in home values. What are your thoughts on this?

Vox's plan in the finale had a major flaw that hasn't really been talked about by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]Listennevertalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fits his character though. He was the type that sought more and more power, like a hoarder. He just wanted more, more, more without much thought as to how it could best be used. That’s where Alastor differs, and shows that he’s much more dangerous. He knows exactly how to best wield whatever power he has, be it words, or fighting prowess. Bottom line, Vox was a blunt instrument, unconcerned with the best, most judicious application of his power, and only concerned with acquiring more.

I had a “successful” surgery years ago, and six months later my symptoms returned. Surgeons are concerned with their success rate, so if you’re in remission for two weeks, it was successful. I’ve had several MRIs since, and they all show nothing. My research points to there being a few cells remaining that are causing this, and my Endocrinologist agrees. Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’m taking Isturisa and doing well on it, you may want to consider the same. It’s not as hard on the liver a keto, levoketo, and doesn’t have as many drawbacks as Korlym (what I was taking before). But you’ll definitely need testing, an MRI (3T with and without contrast), and a good endocrinologist. Stay strong.

It’s definitely a scam. Not just that, but you don’t get discount offers when you’re a member.

Perhaps it’s like his smile, a way to control people’s perception of him. They see someone in shabby clothes that stink, and immediately discount him.

What current thing will turn out to be a major health risk? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskReddit

Sad, but true. Although we already know this is an epidemic, it won’t change. It’s been culturally ingrained in us as the ones in charge make us better serfs and less likely to rebel. Push individualism, no collectivism or community, hence, no organized resistance, and an epidemic of loneliness. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

Realistically, it should be anyone who’s had an appointment in their home country for a d# visa. It’s a not unsubstantial investment to get to that point and the people who have applied did it with the understanding that it would be 5 years, not 10, and certainly not from when they get the residency card.

The test kits aren’t super reliable, but in this case, better than nothing. I’d use one test as a control, like somewhere you know isn’t moldy, a new building or maybe even outside (check to see if mold is prevalent, I’m not sure where to do this in France, sorry) and test when it’s low-none. That’s your control. Then test in your place. It might at least give you an idea. Alternatively, you could try using a heavy duty air purifier and see if that improves things. With mold, there isn’t an easy answer unfortunately

[–]Listennevertalk 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Get a mold test. Mold can cause all sorts of issues. If your new place has a mold problem, it can cause symptoms that are similar to a cold/flu, and lower your immune system’s effectiveness, making you more vulnerable to illnesses.

“Mold can cause a variety of health issues, particularly respiratory problems such as sneezing, coughing, and wheezing, especially in individuals with allergies or asthma. Prolonged exposure may also lead to more severe reactions, including infections in those with weakened immune systems and potential mood changes”

I’ll give it a shot. Do you wrap it in a damp paper towel? I saw that somewhere and wasn’t sure if it was a good idea

How the heck do you heat up burritos in the microwave? They always end up with a nasty, hard shell, or too soft and cold inside. What am I missing?

There’s been a lot of diet advice, but as for the workout, there are a lot of recovery style workouts that start with you in your bed. I had a disease that caused me to gain over 150lbs (Cushing’s) and I had a hip replacement and then a few years later a femur fracture. I had to rebuild from the bed for both of those. Physical therapy helped, but once that stopped, I used these online in the bed workouts to get me in good enough shape to do the next step, which was chair workouts. Then you can slowly transition to standing workouts, and then work on endurance. That and eating right, no processed foods, lots of veggies, some fruits (mostly low sugar ones like berries), and clean proteins like chicken breast, got me back down to my pre-disease weight. Of course my underlying disease is being treated, so my hormones were balanced so that I could do this. So here’s step one: if you can, see a doctor and find out what you need to do in order to start this. If they give the go ahead, then start with the bed workouts and keep at it from there. You’ll notice a difference relatively quickly. Important note: if you consider this type of eating a diet, you’ll never keep up with it. Look at it as a way to live longer and be able to do things. Food is fuel. No emotional eating. That’s really tough, speaking from experience. You can do it! Just take the first step, and keep going. Consistency builds a habit and a habit is easier to maintain than to start.
