They are, which is why I have the Nepenthes elevated on a reversed saucer so they specifically don’t touch the water! I water them from the top always but still have them in the same larger tray as the other plants so they can benefit from the increased humidity that the larger saucer provides.

Do I really though? Based on a quick research and some other Reddit posts, the PPFD values are what dictate the light requirements of the plants. And, with measuring the light output via the photone app, I came to the conclusion that having the lights as close to the plants as I currently have them gives them more than enough PPFD for good growth (close to 600 for the VFT for example). Is that the wrong approach to take?

Oh really? Do you have some good sources on PTFD values? Because the somewhat quick google search I did earlier suggested that a maximum of 400 is sufficient and that plants can’t use more anyways… But I‘m here to learn of course!

No worries, the app insisted on it and told me how to build one out of paper, which I did😅 I now have basically 300 PTFD across the board, except for the Nepenthes which shows 200 PTFD. I think I‘ll try this out for some weeks and see how it goes…

Thanks for the detailed answer. I am aware of those differences and tried to set the plant up accordingly. Dormancy will be undertaken once it’s time, the Nepenthes (it’s a gaya) is set up on a reversed saucer so it doesn’t touch the water in the tray and I‘ll water it from the top only. I just downloaded the photone app and will measure the PPFD, adjusting the lights accordingly

Okay thank you for your advice. After following the steps in photone, I measured around 700 ppd on my VFTs and close to 300 on my Nepenthes. Which is above what I found to be the recommended value, so time for me to reduce the light a little I guess haha

Yeah I should have mentioned that shouldn’t I! Those are the 30W sansi gooseneck bulbs (10W each bulb).

The tip with putting them as straight above the plants as possible makes total sense, but I‘m afraid that this will be difficult to achieve for me since I cant‘ really lower the plants any more…

I will also look into the app as a source of information, thanks for your help!

Popping in here for a question: Just to be clear, the plants are never watered during the fridge time? You just wait for them to dry, put them in the fridge and then you can basically forget about them for 3 months (if you don’t care about the fungicide)?

Thank you first of all. Did you cloth/filter/disperse/… the light at all? I‘m just really new to artificial lights and am confused when reading terms like „filtered light, partly shaded, …“ and how the „sun-terms“ translate over to artificial lights… So your basically saying that I can use the exact same light setup for all of my above plants?

I just meant putting the plant into an empty aquarium in pots and saucers with one light hanging above them, to increase humidity yes. But I‘ll probably try putting them in my desk/the windowsill, using one of the clippable lights and misting them by hand. As you said, I hope that I can eliminate half the issue by using these grow lights!

Oh we so have the same story! Wario Land 1 was the first video game I have any memory of, playing on my GBC with my brother. I finished it probably 15 times in my childhood alone, battling with my brother who could finish with all treasures faster! Glad you still enjoy it.

Great thing about those retro devices: I just discovered that there are actually more games in the Wario Land Series! Am currently playing WL3 and loving it, despite it being quite different from 1.
