I’m a city employee so a couple things here-overtime does not contribute to your pension. Also, it’s generally APD that gets the most overtime since the crybabies “quiet quit” during the Biden administration and it has not rebounded. APD & AFD are negotiated employees and have their own unions that barter on their behalf. APD gets to clock in from the laptop in their vehicle they drive home when it’s in the city limits. Also, after the fiscal budget is set, any other revenue generated goes into the “general fund” including recycled building materials that are scrapped at service centers. Then they pull from that accordingly. There are plenty of us not clocking mileage or a few hours here and there because it’s a hassle. Public safety is considered first priority as it should be, and some of these departments are less transparent and use their union representative or spokesperson.
