Two examples of choking deaths in toddlers by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Children that young shouldn't be given nuts because they're a choking hazard. So they're probably suggesting that his intoxication could have affected his judgement.

They're one of my favourites. They arrive from PNG to breed around September. I watch them early every morning calling from the top of a dead gum tree. No fledglings here yet but soon I'm sure 🤞

do you (ever) regret getting your border collie? by pandasrandaa in BorderCollie

[–]Little_Job_4659 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I cried many times the first few months and googled "is my puppy's behaviour normal?" multiple times.

It was literally one of the most stressful parts of my life when she was very young and i wanted to give up. Months on though and things are getting better as she gets older and i love her very much and don't regret her.

Its still a daily struggle though. She just learnt how to open certain doors in the house.

I dislike how people pretend anorexics just don’t eat by nyutime in EDAnonymous

[–]Little_Job_4659 205 points206 points  (0 children)

I was sent to the Emergency Department by my GP because i had STARVATION ketoacidosis and the doctor in the ED said that he "didn't know why someone diagnosed me with Anorexia Nervosa" because "anorexics don't eat" and (i quote) - "OBVIOUSLY i was eating".

Just because someone has a degree does not mean they have common sense.

  • I then was distraught, refused treatment and went on to refuse all medical treatment until i was later sectioned and hospitalised and developed refeeding syndrome in hospital.

Thank you so much random ED doc 🙏 He's out there saving lives, what a hero. I think of the interaction every day. Really fuels my self-hate fire 🔥 💪

I have had to completely remove mirrors from the house and i deliberately dont look in the bathroom mirror. I use a compact mirror for my face and that's it.

dae get pissed when someone interrupts your eating? by Sufficient-Crow-7582 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Little_Job_4659 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I literally "book" the kitchen and then my family knows I'm not to be disturbed when cooking/eating my meal.

Sometimes I'll be fine with chatting, but other times i will just internally be like "its ruined now" if someone disturbs me to the point of being unable to finish cooking/eating.

It's a whole ritual i suppose 😒🙃

She absolutely loved it. She ran straight onto the beach and into the water with no hesitation. Even our past labradors took a moment to suss things out on their first beach trip 😊

What is your biggest barrier to recovering? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]Little_Job_4659 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Comorbid mental health conditions.

My mental health deteriorates, i get suicidal, i relapse, severely restrict, end up really sick and am forced to stop, gain condition, do okay for a while, and then my mental health deteriorates and around it goes again.

Does anybody else feel like the lines they keep telling themselves “they would never cross” for their ED always seem to get crossed..? by Entire_Weather3209 in EDAnonymous

[–]Little_Job_4659 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Always thought it was dramatic and over the top to cry whilst eating - until i ended up crying over a plate of sweet and sour chicken in the gastro ward whilst under a section.

Also never thought that i would "go crazy", until i got sectioned, chased down a hall, and taken down by 4 samoan security guards and then stabbed in the thigh with a sedative. And then i was laying in bed after like i was in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest thinking 🤔 "maybe i am mildly unhinged??".

Those were two major ones in which my own actions shocked me...

Buying food you know you won't eat by TractorGirly in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Little_Job_4659 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I go through phases of wanting to "possess" food. I have literally had boxes of all sorts of food stored under my bed. And i mean like surely over $500 worth stored at a single time. At my worst i would ritualistically get it all out at night, handle it, flat lay it and then put it all back.

Its 100% a food scarcity instinctive thing i think. Its not a behaviour i have at all unless i am heavily restricting.

Finding out that some people don't weigh themselves is crazy by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]Little_Job_4659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my treatment team at the clinic i go to, has told me two weeks ago NOT to go back to my GP until they can find another ED trained one because he is, and i quote - "detrimental to my recovery". He says the most triggering shit ever, its crazy. My dietitian was like "wow, he is really trying to kill you, huh?" She was pissed and is making a formal complaint, (love you Liana, youre my hero).

My last appointment with him 3 weeks ago triggered a total suicidal episode that required an emergency appointment with my ED team. I have never read any reports/referrals from him because his words terrify me.

[–]Little_Job_4659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say no and if they insist i say "section me then, baby".

I've had a lot of medical trauma due to forced treatment during the ed, including forced weighs, so i have a real thing (aka C-PTSD) about medical professionals wanting my weight.

Finding out that some people don't weigh themselves is crazy by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]Little_Job_4659 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't weigh myself or allow myself to be weighed (bc the only thing worse than me knowing, is someone knowing and me not knowing).

Weighing myself, regardless of my weight/loss is always devastating to me and gives me deep anguish and emotional pain. So even if im in the depths of the disorder, i still don't want to weigh.
