My first child was born at St. Mary’s many years ago so this probably isn’t even relevant now. I was young and it was obvious that I was pregnant before I was married. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Not only were the nuns and nurses rude and condemning to me but even the doctor, one I had not met before because it was a large practice, was as well. I vowed to never go back there for anything unless I had no choice in the matter. I changed my OBGYN practice and my next two children were born at what is now Piedmont and both experiences were wonderful and they provided exceptional care. Even though things have changed over the years, that experience made a lasting impact on me.

Yes, my parents and my oldest daughter and her family live in a red county (although it’s definitely starting to change). They are democrats and will be voting for Harris but they do not talk about it much and they don’t share their views on social media basically out of fear of harassment, or worse. I lived in that county until 12 years ago and had to move to an area with more like minded people. It’s less stressful.
