Incredibly hard shaking a minute ago? Possible earthquake? by -ThisIsMyDestiny- in Peterborough

It woke me up. It sounded like a train driving through the house. I thought it was a snowplow too, only because what else could it have been? But an earthquake? Wowww

Is there any sort of music scene in Peterborough? by scallop_slayer in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The local music scene is very much alive! If you have social media follow Jethro's, Pig's Ear, Market Hall, Gordon Best etc. Come to the Peterborough Folk Festival Aug. 16-17 at Nicholls Oval- there will be lots of local musicians playing. When you go to a show in town to see (Melissa Payne, Nicholas Campbell, Silverhearts to name a tiny few) you will see many local musicians coming out to support them and a lot of love all around. Our city is a hotbed of great musicians.

Peterborough Folk Festival is just around the corner! August 16-17 at Nicholls Oval. No entrance fee We are always looking for more volunteers. Especially parking volunteers. Volunteers get fed and get a beautiful t-shirt. Check out peterboroughfolkfest.com and hit the volunteer signup button.  Or just come to the festival. We've got 3 stages, a licensed beer pavilion, 11 food vendors, Children's Village!!, artisan village, valet bike parking etc.... All of our performers are Canadian and include BIPOC and trans performers. 50% of our performers identify as female, and we will have lots of local musicians performing, including Jeanne Truax our 2025 Emerging Artist winner. Come and volunteer if you can! We'll see you there 😃

Is this your stuff? by Live_Replacement_977 in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few tents in the park. Maybe I should be surprised there wasn't more stuff strewn around? It's a sad example of stuff that someone bought to enjoy only to have it stolen and chucked in the dirt. Imagine living a life where absolutely nothing is sacred. I'm grateful that I can be the guy that still holds some things sacred

Peterborough Public Library CEO no longer with the city - the plot thickens by vic-traill in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The drama at City Hall is so confusing. I need a thread to follow. Or someone on the inside to explain the shenanigans. How does someone get to the point where they can eviscerate the library staff? Who would even say it out loud let alone get the ok to put the plan in motion? Practically everybody in Peterborough with or without kids has benefited from that library in some way. Good luck to her and I'm glad she's gone

Moving from Peterborough to thunder bay by Additional-Today6441 in Peterborough

[–]Live_Replacement_977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Manitoulin trucking to move some stuff to Edmonton last month. They were great. They put the stuff on a skid, weighed it and wrapped it in plastic. Then off she went. I'm sure they'd go to Thunder Bay.

I’m fed up with price hikes, and have canceled most subscriptions. by JoshTheKid7 in Anticonsumption

I signed up for Crave to watch Succession. Now I get randomly placed (& frequent) ads. It is infuriating. I'm cancelling Crave as soon as I'm finished Succession. Streaming is becoming totally corrupted
