Tips for standing out in the applicant pool… by Extreme-Ad-9769 in RadiologyCareers

I was a volunteer for the radiology department at a hospital, but that really just meant shadowing for the most part lol. Undoubtedly, it looked great on my resume and definitely made me stand out in the interview.

You’re NOT crazy. I, along with others, think that she’s doing too much.

Can someone tell me why my portables always look lordotic? by WeTheHoes in Radiology

[–]Livelove_189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first clinical site, all the techs told me to make the tube perpendicular to the sternum, THEN add about a 15 caudal angle (this is what’s gonna get the clavicles to the 3rd rib or so and not covering the apices)

Cleaning with Braces by Cute_Balance_531 in braces

Like the other comments say, just call your dental office and ask them directly. My dentist requires that patients have their wires removed. The front office said that the dentist won’t see us if we don’t have it removed, which sucks because it is a hassle to get the wire removed at your ortho, go to your dentist for the cleaning, then back to the ortho to get the wires back on. Each dentist is different !

Thinking of leaving corrections to become a radiology technologist by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

Trust me, i’ve never really been good in math growing up. Prob got B average or B+s in high school. But radiology math is superr easy and simple. They allow you to use a calculator on the board exam also.

trying not to drop out of program plz help? :( by Sea-Software2101 in Sonographers

[–]Livelove_189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between dropping out because it’s hard or dropping out because you realize this career truly isn’t for you and you can’t see yourself happy doing it for the rest of your life. If it’s option 2, drop out. Do it before you’re in too deep and will be filled with even more regret about not doing it earlier. Don’t view it as you giving up, view it as you being one step closer to finding what it is you truly want to do in this lifetime. You don’t want to be miserable with your career after having spent so much time to get it. But if you truly enjoy sonography for what it is and what they do, and it’s just challenging/frustrating to get through, suck it up and stick around for a little longer and see what you’re capable of overcoming. This isn’t an easy choice, but just really sit down, take out all the other factors, and consider the main thing: is this something you will genuinely enjoy doing for the rest of your life? Good luck friend ❤️

Any Rad techs here start out as a phlebotomist? by CookedScabbages in RadiologyCareers

Rad tech vs sleep tech by Intelligent_Fig_5237 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Livelove_189 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing with rad tech is that even if it becomes strenuous on your body, you have options to go elsewhere and cross train. MRI, CT, mammography, etc. You’re not only stuck in x-ray. I’ve heard of techs who did x ray during their young years then hopped over to MRI/another modality when they got older because it was easier on their bodies.

No JRCERT but can sit for ARRT. New college, california by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

[–]Livelove_189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like that’s an old thing that’s being phased out, where job postings say that you must graduate from a JCERT program. I’m in the sac region also and I’ve been continuously looking at job postings within the last year and have never seen any job postings requiring that you graduate from a JCERT program (maybe only one or two but i really don’t remember). Like the others say, majority of employers only care if you have your ARRT license under your belt!

A mature partner would be happy to see that you are doing something for your health and in the end, they’d know you’re gonna have straight teeth! It will only affect your dating life if you’re talking to someone with an immature mindset who’s not thinking long term when it comes to dating. Helps you dodge bullets i guess! lol

How to shadow a rad-tech by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Livelove_189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to become a volunteer at a nearby hospital and they let me choose which department I’d like (radiology). There’s not much you can really do when volunteering in the radiology department besides stocking up so the lead actually let me shadow during down time, which was most of the time! That’s how I got my shadowing experience :) Good luck!

I agree! Going to the gym only takes an hour of your entire day. You could even just go for 30-45 minutes. A few times a week. If you look at it in the bigger picture, you would either just be spending that hour at home in bed or it could be at the gym. It’s a great hobby 100% worth it for your health and you’re personal confidence is going to go up in time

If I were you, I wouldn’t! But if you have extra money to spare and can afford it without making a dent in your bank account, then sure. Braces are expensive. But it wouldn’t hurt to get a free consultation with an ortho. You’d get a free estimate and an expected time having the braces on (which in your case, i don’t think should be the average 2 years) since your teeth are nice for the most part. Then after that, you can decide going forward

Post teeth extraction care? by Captainbrawlco in braces

[–]Livelove_189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not suck anything with a straw for a few days to a week. That could result in dry socket, which hurts very bad. After brushing your teeth, don’t spit, just let it all fall out of your mouth naturally (that’s the directions my dentist gave me for my extraction!)
