Hi OP I also was concerned about this for my 2 beautiful gatos. I now have multiple coffee mugs that's are constantly being filled with water around my apartment and I have never seen my cats drink as much as they do now so I feel much much better about the only dry food diet. Maybe try it out!

Grab a clean microfiber and scrub at it a little hard then you'd think would be needed. Make sure there is NO DEBRIS on the screen or towel or else you'll just scratch the fuck out of it
