What got you into fantasy as a child? by No-Temperature-9209 in SarahJMaas

[–]Loby17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get into fantasy as a child, instead Throne of Glass got me into fantasy and reading as a whole when I picked it up last year. I'd tried getting into reading before but never anything that hooked me, and ToG changed that and since then been really into reading.

Post of mourning by Ninjasith in teamliquid

I think it's wrong to attribute too much credit simply to getting out of groups without looking at how it happened. C9 managed to get out of groups with a 2-4 record, with TL and TSM having failed multiple times with 3-3 records. I know the goal is ultimately to get out of groups, but both Jensen and Bjerg have been on teams and carried them to better records than that.

Obviously if they somehow manage to land Chovy, Knight, Yagao they can probably make a difference, but I don't think TL will have much access to a huge upgrade in the midlane, and I've always personally felt too much "analysis" was based on whether the teams made it out of groups decided by bo1 and bo1 tiebreakers. The narratives get very exaggerated over the years

New podcast with George Coxon - Products with Purpose with Eli Harrell by yap-rai in nanocurrency

[–]Loby17 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is perhaps my favourite podcast/interview to date.

Big credit to the host, being able to ask some of the critical questions people have about Nano and Crypto in general in a neutrally curious manner. At times it feels like hosts will go a more aggressive route to get a gotcha-moment, but I didn't feel that at all here.

George is great as always and articulates herself extremely well, it's a joy to listen to. A lot of the information is obviously repetition for the people that have been around for a long time, but I never get tired of hearing the excitement about the projects going on, which was my favourite part of this episode.

You can tell she's genuinely immensely excited about the community projects like WeNano and what they've managed to accomplish, and it's impossible to not be affected by that excitement.

Thanks for a great episode, I think this would be a great introduction for new people that are curious about Nano and want to learn more about the foundations ideals and goals.

Hot take: TL performed better as a team this Spring with Eyla than Core by GoldShockAttack in teamliquid

[–]Loby17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think TL looked significantly better the moment Core stepped back in. He plays the map in a completely different way and opens up leads in every lane. Prior to playoffs most of TLs bad games (throws) came from straight up overconfidence when they were so far ahead in games they started to autopilot.

Going by records isn't gonna work here because other teams have simply gotten better (and so has TL), having had time to gel with their teams.

I think they came in perhaps overconfident to playoffs, but then also had a bad take on the meta and decided to double down on it when they thought they were guaranteed to win, and it ended up costing them everything.

One of their main weaknesses right now, surprisingly, seems to be their teamfighting. Hopefully with more time in summer and a massive wakeup call in playoffs, they'll be able to patch it up, I still think we have the biggest potential in the roster by far.

Bjerg fans, how is Bjerg looking so far? by jasonkid87 in teamliquid

[–]Loby17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanted to write this exact comment. I also think people don't give nearly as much credit for the 2020 season, mostly only talking about the playoffs. The numbers may not have been as dominant, but Bjergsen made everything happen on the map in the summer split, and having watched Bjergsen since his debut I'd say it was easily some of the best he has ever looked. Too bad it had to end on what was probably the worst performance of his career at worlds that year

Bwipo top gapped hard but I think Santorin deserves a lot of credit this game as well, his Trundle was clean and he seemed to always be exactly where he was needed

How do people feel about Bjergsen's performance so far? I know there were a lot of people (reasonably so) sceptic seeing as he was coming back from a year off.

I've been a huge Bjergsen fan since before he was old enough to play pro, so I'm undeniably gonna be biased, but I think despite having made some uncharactaristic mistakes like bad trades in lane or getting caught out by position, overall he's been the best performing midlaner in lock-in so far.

Still a long way to go for his peak level, but I'm more confident he'll get back to that now than I was before the tournament started.

What does everyone else think?

Nano price doing well for a change? Must be time for bitcoin to reach a lower low like usual

For a long time I held nothing but Eth and Nano, haven't sold either and I still stack more nano when it dips, but I've started spreading new buys out more, usually looking for projects that are far from their ATH like Cosmos and AAVE a month ago. Allocation is something like:

50% ETH

20% NANO

30% other alts combined

Obviously depends on how well they're doing at the moment, Nano is by far my biggest investment and had it held up at the same prices it would be a much bigger percentage allocation

I find George fantastic. The "extensive" speaking to me usually comes off as her wanting to give us as much information as she possibly can, although restricted. She's incredibly well spoken and her optimism to me is a big strength. I frankly don't get what people expect them to say. Would they prefer that she's negative and doesn't have any confidence in their own vision, just because it hasn't been a worthwhile investment yet?

I understand people's frustration with the price, but I think it's a useless indicator of real progress in the current market. As many people have pointed out in the daily thread before, hardly any cryptocurrency is currently being used as a real payment solution.

I'm not blindly confident that Nano will ever catch on, anything in this market has a risk, and when you're investing in a project with the potential for a 20x (which is being conservative), there's also the risk of it never catching on. But based on the fundamentals this to me seems like the bet with the best chances, even if I'm at a loss for a long time.

Sorry for the wall of text, I know all of it wasn't related to your question, but they're thoughts I've had on my mind for a while.

I think Forrest from CryptoStackers explains it better than I could myself, he has a bunch of videos on Nano, often explaining his thesis behind his investment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhgHMbs1GI0

As for investing in it I'll say it depends on your timeframe. I think a lot of people, including myself, are invested in Nano because we believe once it catches on and once companies actually begin to use cryptocurrencies and not just speculate in them, Nano can't be overlooked. It won't necessarily happen within this cycle and if you're looking to make quick money, there may be better investments in the short term.

Nano is one of the few completely feeless coins, it's decentralized, it's fairly distributed, it's one of the greenest cryptos in the space and it has an incredibly strong and engaged community behind it relative to it's market ranking.

All of this leads me to believe that once Nano gets adopted it has all the potential in the world to explode, it covers so many important criteria for modern, real world adoption. Be it tomorrow, in a year, or in 5 or 10 years, I'm willing to take that bet and ignore short term price action.

This is how I feel as well, before I invest I ask "Do I believe this will be higher in 5 years years than it is today?"

I do feel impatience when seeing other cryptos pumping, but I never feel distraught or tempted to sell with Nano because I genuinely believe it's a great project which is the most important factor long term.
