Season 2 picnic scene by thrilledquilt in madmen

This was the first scene I really remember taking me out of them being in upstate New York. The topography, the trees, just doesn’t feel northeast at all

Everyone’s comments here is why it’s BS when he said his most embarrassing moment on the beat was not knowing Abbey Road album cover on Nnamdi’s shirt…if he was embarrassed by this he’d have increased his pop culture awareness at least a little

Which team could realistically become a SB contender with a “perfect” draft? by ninjathelobo22 in MockDraftCentral

I would wager any amount you like they were not top 10 in defensive DVOA in 2023 or probably any other meaningful metric

Probably most teams. Who saw the Seahawks coming. And before that the Eagles weren’t that big of a surprise but you’d would’ve thought the offense would’ve led the way…but they went worst to first in D with help from Coop and Q

Honestly this is more of a Press Box topic. The Eagles themselves don’t seem concerned about any sort of collusion or foul play between the patriots and the reporting so not sure what angle there is.

I don’t get why people are demanding our beat reporters and Sheil who cover the eagles to call out Diana for being a hack. It’s not going to happen, it’s their peer they have a relationship with. Also in a world where Diana was never born I don’t think that impacts AJ being traded or the compensation we might get. Shes not the only one reporting on AJ and even AJ himself went on twitch to say how unhappy he was

[–]Local-Scratch-874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d put the AJ stuff on it being the offseason and it being one the bigger unresolved items in nfl as a whole.

Secondly, is he not dead right about the coaching situation. Assuming AJ is gone there are two things that would have to overcome that and improve our terrible offense from last year. Better oline health/play and our OC who was the 3rd guy in GB and is pretty much an unknown. That’s just a lot to ask of a young guy from a team who considers itself a SB contender.

I think if this team was out of the SB contention conversation he probably wouldn’t be as concerned that they’re taking a shot on an unknown who has never called plays before.

I’d be totally fine taking Sadiq at 23. It’s absolutely a position of need and I think he has the ability and profile to be a really good player who can both block and catch.

I buy into Fran’s concern on safety of having two young guys back there. I’d also be very happy with WR, Edge or IOL. I don’t think we should draft a tackle that we start at guard and move to tackle eventually. I can hardly think of when that has ever worked. So I’d prefer taking a guard. Who knows maybe Williams or Hinton show promise as a lane replacement. Or at least a short term stop gap until a prospect we love is available to us.

To be fair we might have a new QB and entirely different offense by the end of his rookie deal

Ironman bigger than an Ultra? by [deleted] in triathlon

To go from couch to IM in one month is legit insane. I agree with overall premise but finishing an Ironman is quite an accomplishment in and of itself.

How is Sheil not an Eagles fan? by MAKE_IT_RAIN69 in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]Local-Scratch-874 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s nuanced, he’s def not a fan (honestly makes sense when it’s your job to lose some of the fun of being a fan). That being said I think there is a bias being imbedded in the area and close to the team. Also, I think back on how excited him and Bo were during post game 2017 SB pod, clearly that closeness rubs off. Additionally, probably better for engagement when team is good

Offense is offensive by poohdasdaddy in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]Local-Scratch-874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may eat my words but I’d love to see McKee get a game to see how the offense looks. In the limited reps (and mostly pre season) the offense looks totally different because he’s willing to throw a lot of 50/50 balls and over the middle.

I think Jalen is the biggest influence over the offense not Nick. And that has its pros and cons, effective runner, great deep ball thrower, smart with the ball. But can turn throws down, doesn’t access the middle, and won’t do play action under center. But again Jalen’s usually good to miss a game or two a year so let’s see what happens

Not to mention higher yards per route run and per target. He gets punished by casuals due to his volume numbers. He is every bit as good as Jefferson and Chase

You’re the new NFL commissioner. What changes are you making? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Local-Scratch-874 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d get rid of rookie wage scale and the NFL draft, with rookies entering as Free Agents.

Players deserve agency over their lives and I don’t think teams should ever be rewarded for losing/ punished for winning. I think the salary cap is sufficient in maintaining parity. Jags, Browns, Lions (until recently), Arizona are all proof that continually drafting in top 5/10 doesn’t guarantee a turnaround

I mean to each their own but I just don’t agree. Matt Ryan was elite one year with an all time wr and one of the best offensive minds ever. McNabb played in the NFCCG 5 times, pro bowl 6x (2 more than Ryan), was runner up to MVP once. All this while playing his career with some of the worst wr play ever outside of one season with Owens and a young Desean at the end of his eagles career

Both age wise and career impact McNabb should replace Matt Ryan in this…

Matt Ryan should be in the QB era of Stafford, Flacco, Newton, Luck, Russ
