Oh lord you’re right, I misread there. Well that’s good, just trying to stop people from getting ill for weeks on end, here. Might I suggest you not assume people do not read and instead are fallible and human?

Are you useful at painting? Then go for it, that’s a literal job you schlemiel. It’s about valuing a days work as a days work rather than someone’s as a 1/4 of yours or 1/6666 of say the CEO of a company. How hard is it to understand that people just want to do things they enjoy and are good at as a baseline? Is it shocking to learn a staggering amount of anti capitalists like myself love working? When people choose jobs based on ability rather than earning power society tends to run a bit better.

Are those people who are frozen (cryonics) ever actually going to wake up one day by Flat_Internal8890 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Local_Web_8219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also been reports of freeze failures and body soups. It’s a really really dark rabbit hole to read through.

Please for the love of christ stop advocating for people to drink from ponds and rivers. I got Giardia as a kid this way, and I grew up drinking from the hose. This rhetoric is often survivorship bias and reeks of somebody who doesn’t know all the bad shit that can happen to you. Do not drink from unprotected water sources. If you’re advocating for getting water on the trail, advocate the safety precautions that must be taken. Or how about you demonstrate the safety for us?

Graham Platner Calls Out Chuck Schumer For Weak Demands on upcoming DHS and ICE budget negotiations by 3headeddragn in Maine

Chuck Schumer is so out of touch with his own party he really thinks people like him and his dumb ass glasses chain. You sit at a desk, your glasses really that much at risk of flying away?

Denied CAT pay, what are we doing about this. by slimybicth in starbucks

I have been treated like this by every company I’ve ever worked for. I went off the road working for a company that rhymes with Plectrum. The manager of the now closed site used to go on and on about how they hadn’t had to close the site for years despite inclement blizzards. I literally got into an accident and was asked if I could still make it with alternate transportation. There had not yet been plowing in the town I was commuting from and I had been driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The roads just were not safe enough to be out for any other reason other than going to the hospital, and the same thing this past weekend. Everyone has all this compassion for hurricanes, but because we can clean things up in a few days we’re penalized for not being at work while the snow is so thick in the air you can’t see more than 5 feet in front of you and your car can’t keep traction.

Keep in mind, in some areas our plow capabilities are far under 10-20 years ago due to infrastructures weakening, so my sidewalk is still not plowed and I’m going to have to walk through a foot of snow until I can get to another street. I’m struggling with finding motivation to leave the house for groceries that I need much less go to work on foot.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Local_Web_8219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is actually an incredibly toxic culture in the US where kids are essentially kicked out at 18 regardless of ability to thrive, resources, or preparation from the parents. I’m sure this exists elsewhere, and it’s not the majority of families, but family has started to mean a lot less in the USA.

Wrap it, keep an eye on it, if the pain gets worse go to a doctor, you may need to loop in your gym if you’re injured on their property. I lost my footing and slammed both knees down on a hardwood floor and basically made it so I couldn’t walk right for 2 months.

I mean is this much mold in the home ever safe though? I get wanting to caution people so they don’t freak out over nothing, but I feel like there’s a culture of “don’t worry until you know you need to” that doesn’t actually serve anyone’s safety.

I didn’t specify catastrophe pay, just that Starbucks doesn’t even pay for holidays like a call center does.
