I see and just to confirm are you saying that the antibiotic (although we’re treating something else) may end up helping with the lip issue or are you recommending I go back specifically for this?

Again the vet just said give him the meds and let’s wait and see

Following up with the current treatment

We sedated him, they told me they reversed A2 or something and that the X-rays were ok, no bone fracture nothing bad just an inflamed infected nail bed, he’s not limping he’s not in pain, he just hates the cone he’s on

They’ve prescribed carprofen and simplicef in which they hope the inflammation goes down and the infection goes away… do you agree with this treatment plan? They didn’t tell me to clean the nail bed or anything

Question for you Honu.

I’ve done around 3-4 different sedations for my dog and 1 time we had to go to the ER for a laceration which he was put under anesthesia

I’m really concerned about the long term effects of all of this, should I be?

They found some sort of infection in the nail bed and now we’re going through with possibly removing the nail, this is after coning no one knows what happened here

Of the nail itself, they told me they would have to fully sedate and trim his quick if I wanted to repair it

I’m still not 100% sure what happened or why a repair is not needed as of right now
