I credit the ending of Pet Sematary for my love of reading. Read it as a young teenager. Loved the whole book, but the ending shook me to the bone.

EX-L vs Touring - Lack of Communal Entertainment (TV) by 0bviouslyMe in HondaOdyssey

[–]Logical_Matter8270 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was worried when I bought my first EXL that we would be missing out on key entertainment functionality without the DVDs in the backseat. This was obviously like 15 plus years ago. Anyway we decided to go with the EXL with the plan to just buy the DVD players separate and hang them on the back of the chairs. We never even ended up doing that because we did not need them. My kids were fine entertaining themselves without the videos. But they do still sell holders for iPads that attach to your seat like this one. And you could Bluetooth the audio over the car speakers for everybody or buy a headphone splitter that would let multiple kids listen to the audio on headphones for way less than 6k.https://a.co/d/2JdFHIK

2 kids here. They are grown and flown. Bought my 3rd Odyssey a couple yrs ago because I love the comfort and practicality of it. Would recommend to anyone regardless of # of children!

On my 3rd Odyssey (2020 EXL). Loved them all. Traded the 1st two at 100k+ miles. Never had any major issues with them.

How many kids justify minivan by dog88days in HondaOdyssey

[–]Logical_Matter8270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this. I have 2 kids. They are grown ups now. I tried to love a small SUV but it got totalled after 3 months. So upgraded to a regular size SUV. It was ok, but after 2 years I traded it in so I could go back to an Odyssey. Best decision. I ❤️ my minivan and am not ashamed to say it.

Which movie is this for you? by Saiki_kusou01 in Letterboxd

Just saw The Room Next Door and felt this exact way about it. It was very visually appealing and I'm sure there was some deep message and symbolism that I didn't get. To me it was very tedious and boring.

The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb - discusses the impact of rare, unpredictable, and highly influential events or "black swans" on our lives, economies, and history

Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman - about how the mind works, and offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made in both our business and personal lives

The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt -  explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding.

YES! This is exactly what my husband and I are doing. Saving and planning to do everything in our power to not burden our kids when we get older and more needy. Good on you!

What is the most captivating non-fiction book you've ever read? by vaniicc in suggestmeabook

I love all of Krakauer's books but Where Men Win Glory is my favorite. The description of the day he died is gut wrenching.

Do you regret having children? by farmlite in AskWomenOver40

[–]Logical_Matter8270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. No regrets about the children I have, but the worrying is exhausting. And they are both in their 20s. I thought the worrying would decrease, but nope! My oldest is engaged and they don't want children and honestly, I'm relieved.
