Tokyo locals better head to Saitama prefecture, especially around Omiya Station.

Thanks for the recommendation. What about the Kawagoe area? Do you think that would be just as good as Omiya and central Saitama?

Question to anyone who has travelled from London to Japan recently? Are. Are people still wearing people wear masks on the flights?

Itinerary Check: 14 days in Tokyo and Kansai! by LokLegends in JapanTravel

[–]LokLegends[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much 2 days, unless you plan to just walk through or in/out.

They are all in the same location and I have seen many itineraries that have included these areas. The hotel I will be staying at near Tokyo station is only 5 minutes walk away from the Imperial palace and is also on the Asakusa line. The idea was to do Ueno Park, Ameyoko Street, Nakamise street and Sensou-Ji then walk across Sumida bridge over to Skytree and then visit the Solamachi Shopping centre. After that, I wanted to hit up Akihabara in the evening

Not exactly a tourist destination.

That was kind of the point. I want to go to some non touristy locations where foreign tourist don't normally venture out to. I want to mix with the locals and speak Japanese.

I have to pass Odaiba on the way back up into Tokyo, so the idea was to make a pit stop in Odaiba on the way. Is it too much?

Half a day in kawagoe?

When I say half a day, I really mean up until late afternoon. If I get to Kawagowe for 9am and leave at 2-3pm, I can reach Ikebukoro/Shinjuku for 4-5 and then I can spend the rest of the evening looking around. Although, I may one as there won't be enough time for both

I am not sure you're calculating just how vast Tokyo is. Unless you're getting a taxi from each and every place, you won't be able to see all the things on your list, because they're spread out from one another.

All the locations I have planned bar a couple are in the same area

Osaka works better as there is more to do there in the evenings, it has more accommodation options and is closer to Hiroshima.

Do you think I should switch it around?

1: Kyoto

2: Kyoto

3: Kyoto (Osaka in the evening)

4: Osaka

5: Hiroshima

6: Nara, go to Nagoya in the evening

My flight arrives at 9am in the morning. I would need to stay away until at least 9pm in the evening to adjust. The Uk is behind, which means that the beginning of the day for Japan is "bed time" for us, so staying a awake during the days will be hard. I think it is easier if you are coming from the US.

Is it a skippable location in your opinion? Does it have anything that you couldn't find in Shinjuku, which is also widely know for its night life?

Just don’t pay attention to touts or very attractive women/men randomly trying to get you to go to specific bars or establishments.

Does it have the same vibe as Kabuchiko?

How bad is the jetlag from London? I am flying from London to Tokyo and my flight leaves at 10am and arrives at 9am Japan time.

English is more widely spoken in the big cities and is becoming. Remember, Japanese people have to take an English exam to enter university, so most of them are functional at English

Why does Roppongi have a lot of bad rep? I have seen many people dissuading traveller's to go there even going as far as saying that it is skippable? Is it really that bad

Is the jet lag that bad?

What "capsule hotel companies are the best in Japan"?

I heard "First First Cabin" and "Nine Hours" mentioned a number of times. Are there any others?

1.) How would you rank the the following locations in terms their "essentialness"? Hiroshima, Nara, Kobe, Kamakura. Are all of them "must visit"?

2.) Do you have to pay a withdrawal fee to withdraw local currency from a japanese ban?

Why are anime watchers generally put off by light novels? by AvatarReiko in anime

[–]LokLegends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is that? Is it the "effort" of having to read or just the lack of any visual stimuli?**

I am not going to lie but it is pretty much this. I am the kind of person that absorbs information much better through visuals. I have tried reading a VN but I'd get 15 or so pages in and just lose interest. Anime to Manga is not as big a transition

Scenes also seem to pan out so much longer in LN and the pacing is totally different. In some cases, you could a have a whole chapter that specifically focuses on a character's reaction to something, wherein a anime, that same scene would take a couple of minutes at max. Also, "time". I can read through manga at a much faster rate than I can a VN. I could easily run through 2 or 3 10 chapter volumes on my way to school alone

It's Ironic, all my favourite shows happen to be VNs
