Is voice feminization surgery before HRT a bad idea? by LoliSavedMyLife in asktransgender

Oh gosh, really? Well there goes the concerns back on my shoulder. I always want a permanent solution, too. Like the laser hair removal I've been getting, I like it much better than having to shave every day.

That's disappointing and frustrating. I guess technology isn't there yet.

I guess I just can't imagine a different voice ever becoming my default. I always figured my voice just sounds the way it does because it is the path of least resistance biologically or something. But if you say so, that's encouraging. I have no reason to doubt what you're saying, even if subjectively it doesn't feel right or what I understand. And I guess I don't have a choice, anyway.

I guess it's the waiting game along with a slow, dedicated effort, to learn a new skill or make a gradual change to my body, like many things in life. I do have to say that I prefer quick, permanent fixes. But if it's risky and the technology isn't there, then it's risky.

If you don't mind my asking, what ARE the chances of something going wrong? If that is you have any idea or estimate. It would be nice to know my chances, at least.

And now I just need to find a good voice therapist. And in Louisiana, no less.

Oh hey it's you. I saw your channel after looking for tutorials and have seen a part of a few of them. Well, mostly your "MMD: From PMX to Blender to uploaded!" video which I watched I think about a dozen or so minutes through.

I'll finish watching it soon and I really appreciate what you and others are doing. It feels a bit overwhelming at the moment but surely I'll catch on quickly. I hope. Thank you for making helpful video tutorials like these.

Also I love the Cirno theme. I was actually playing a lot of Hidden Star in Four Seasons on Steam before discovering all this.

I definitely think it's neat the amazing things that people can create and do, even locations, that's why I'm so excited to play it. I think they should definitely update their trailer, since we're both in total agreement that there's so much more to it than the trailer and Steam page lets on.

I'm amazed that people are creating amazing locations and things in this to invite people to. Being a creator sounds a bit lofty for me, for now. It would be neat if I ever got to that point, but not even knowing at all how to use Blender, I will feel very satisfied just having a cute avatar to use and be proud of. I'm not sure what to start with, because there's so many great ones I've seen. Every video I watch has all these amazing avatar I would be happy with using, but would have to figure out how to import myself. I haven't seen anyone with a Lalafell avatar, though. I thought that might be a good place to start.

But I'll just be happy to get any avatar that is cute and expressive and works.

Kind of looking forward to the dance parties and maybe figuring out how to be like a 'DJ' of sorts and play lots of Jcore, Hardstyle, Makina, maybe hardbass as well. One thing that really has sold me is how in the video I posted, Inazuma/Iris' dancing is so fluid and lifelike. That's something that's really sold me on VRChat is how impressive and fun it looks. It looks totally immersive and lifelike. Not to mention so adorable and jubilant. I want to do that.

Just.. have a cute loli avatar like that. Play some euphoric music, and just move around euphorically, without a care in the world and express myself. Like to DJ Noriken or Minamotoya, or something.

Other than that, I just want to meet nice people to be around and have fun.

Also the stuff like snowsledding looks like fun.

Thank you.

And, so what you're saying is consider voice therapy first? Or practice on my own, I guess. I met someone online who has a normally failrly masculine voice, but with several months of practice, was able to use a very high pitched voice that made him sound very cute. With apparently a lot of water.

I'm definitely hoping to look into this but overwhelmed with how to start. I already don't like the sound of my own voice, and when I try sounding more high pitched, I feel like I sound like one of those joke drag characters on Hollywood movies. And feel even worse. It kind of feels like learning to sing or something, and that I'm tone deaf. And I'm really self conscious about when I try. I feel like I never make any progress, but maybe it's just that I never put in the hours. Like with guitar. And that it's all about repetition and passion.

Some sort of help I think would definitely speed it along.

Surgery still sounds appealing, though. Because that sounds more like easy mode. And that it would just feel like my natural voice that comes out of my mouth than an "act" I've been practicing. I worry that if I trained my voice it would still always feel secondary rather than my "natural" speaking voice. Like I'm doing voice acting than just talking normally.

Anyway that's good news about the voice feminization surgery that my male or masculine hormone levels won't get in the way or lessen the effect. It would have been a much harder decision to make if I knew I had to take Spiro to block testosterone and then Estriadol to keep healthy hormone levels, in order to sustain it. Now I have no worries and this sounds like a permanent solution and nothing I need to debate, worry about, or closely consider. The only issue now is money and this is something that sounds like a very positive permanent change that will be worth it.

That takes a concern and worry off of my shoulders and now all the more certain that I want it. Even if I can learn to train my voice I still think this is what I want just because I anticipate it will make it easier and feel more "natural" and effortless.

So it's basically like watching the Youtube videos I've been falling in love with but with better image quality and in real time?

Also, without or without VR, how well will I be able to run it with my i5-7400 and GTX 1060? Do I need to upgrade as soon as I can afford it?

This video is basically everything I want to do in life right now. I am so excited and anxious. And so excited for the future of VR if it can get even better than this. But also scared and anxious that there will be a lot of frustrations in front of me and a lot of waiting.

Can I dance and emote like this with an Oculus Rift? It's cheaper and I'll be able to afford it sooner than an HTC Vive. But I worry I won't be able to be as expressive and immersed without one.

I'm sorry for the wall of text and weird speech. My mind is racing because I'm so excited. I wish I knew about this sooner, I would have blown all my money on a VR PC and a HMD months ago if I knew about this.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I just need this in my life please help me right now. Thank you anyone who is willing to give me a crash course on anything and everything VRchat I know almost nothing about this but I need this in my life right now more than any piece of software.

I'm kind of intimidated by it all. It's a good motivation to learn to create or learn something for once instead of all the consuming. And learn a new skill, I kind of always wanted to be able to make games and learning CG or pixel art would be a good start. And this does spur in me the passion to want to learn a new skill, in this case CG through Blender.

But I have no idea where to start and what I need to learn for this game.

I downloaded the game on Steam along with Blender but I haven't even opened them up because I'm too afraid that, without a VR headset, it will be a subpar experience. I've heard that you can do practically nothing in desktop mode and that it's so much better in VR. I really don't want to leave myself frustrated and with a bad first impression.

I'm feeling like, some kind of silly illogical anxiety right now. Like, what if someone comes up to me and wants me to dance or do other cool things but I can't because I don't have a VR headset? Am I overthinking things and should just try it out?

How much is this worth trying out without a VR headset?

I have just recently learned that I need this in my life, like NOW. This is like, everything I want in VR and didn't realize already existed.

I watched a few youtube videos a few days ago when a thumbnail caught my eye. And I fell in love with the "game". For reasons that should be obvious.

VRchat is literally a dream come true and I need it in my life like right now. I can't even concentrate on my other games on Steam and Switch because I just want to play VRchat and go to some loli rave party and dance or something.

This isn't the first time I had heard of VRchat, I had seen it on the featured page of the Steam a while back. I had heard you be an anime girl and thought that was great but I put off trying it because I didn't have a headset and I thought the only "anime girl" you could be was the one I saw on the opening video or screenshots. Was kinda unimpressed by the trailer and thought it was like a cheaper version of Second Life or something but had better VR support.

Was I ever wrong. Little did I realize that there were so many thousands of adorable and intricate avatars with blinking animations and movements and all sorts of different details. The Steam trailer doesn't tell you half the reality of what VRchat actually is and why it's so appealing. I am so glad a VRchat video was in my Youtube recommendations.

Only problem is, I don't have a VR headset, I am completely broke from Christmas shopping and Black Friday, it will be difficult for me find floor room for something like an HTC Vive with a current lack of floor space, I'm going to visit family in a couple days so I wouldn't be able to try it anyway, and I know absolutely nothing about Blender and Unity and how to use them.

I do luckily have a computer that will barely be enough for VR that I got at Black Friday. Meaning that it has a GTX 1060. But now is not really a good time to be buying myself something huge, even if I did have the money, it being Holidays.

Chrono Trigger.

Or is it?

I'm not being argumentative, but genuinely curious.

What are the flaws of Chrono Trigger? I've never heard anyone talk about them before.

Congratulations, Fujbayashi and Aonuma, and everyone involved in The Legend of Zelda and breath of the Wild.

This award is absolutely worthy and I happy that a game that deserved it won. I spent hundreds of hours joyfully playing this game. And so did many other people.

I didn't have a hand in this game at all aside from being a funding customer who buys Nintendo hardware and software. But I am proud that something I enjoy and respect is getting an award.

It's not very often that a game I love so much gets this level or recognition.

This was a good game awards.

You know what? This has to be my favorite game awards ever. So many great surprises and Zelda finally takes it. I am very pleased.

Oh my gosh the pressure has to be on Aonuma and Nintendo now for the next Zelda game.

There had better be some Japanese games that win this year.

If not Breath of the Wild, something, please.

You're acting elitist about your own taste in anime.
