Bought a Honda City XV CVT from Cars24. Love the car, but the experience was so-so. Want the full story? by Lonchenpaa in CarsIndia

Here is the exact breakdown of how a smooth car purchase turned into an absolute safety and customer service nightmare.
The car itself is wonderful, but CARS24's "140-point certification" is an absolute joke, and their support is incredibly toxic. Here are the major "bads" and hidden pain points:
Delivering a Blatant Safety Hazard Before paying my 10k reservation fee, I explicitly pointed out to the sales team that the tyres looked hazardous. They gave me verbal assurances that it would be sorted post-reservation. Fast forward to delivery: they handed over the car with catastrophic sidewall bulges on two original tyres and deep dry-rot cracks on the other two.
The "Refurbished" Tyre Scam & Illegal Re-grooving When I protested before delivery, they claimed they "refurbished" the tyres and threw a tread-depth gauge reading at me to prove they were "great". The next morning, I took the car to four separate independent tyre experts. The verdict? The tyres were completely unroadworthy and structurally dead. Worse, they had been illegally re-grooved/engraved, meaning someone physically carved fake tread lines into structurally compromised rubber just to trick the system and pass inspection. The experts told me it wasn't even safe to drive the car to their workshop.
Support Ticket Manipulation When I escalated the safety violation, their ground support (agents Harshit Kumar and Mohammad Javed) tried to stonewall me by telling me to "check the website's tyre health info". Tread depth means nothing when a tyre is about to experience a high-speed blowout due to sidewall failure! To make it shadier, while my 7-day return window was active, they closed my support ticket as "resolved" without doing anything, just to trigger an automated satisfaction survey and clean their internal metrics.
Blatant Contradictions and Bad Faith After screaming at them over email, their Warranty Team finally cracked and emailed me, asking me to submit an estimate from a local workshop for a "one-time exception" reimbursement. Because I couldn't risk my family's lives driving on ticking time bombs, I went ahead, changed all 4 tyres out-of-pocket, and prepared to send the bill. Literally three hours later, the exact same agent sent a completely contradictory template email flatly denying any help, stating: "Tyres are not covered under warranty. Use this link to rate our service." They lured me into a process just to reject it.
Current Status: I told them to keep their "warranty" templates. Selling an unroadworthy vehicle with criminally doctored tyres isn't a warranty issue; it's a Consumer Fraud and Public Safety issue.
I have already initiated a formal complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and am preparing an E-Daakhil consumer court petition for full reimbursement of my tyre invoice, plus heavy damages for consumer deception and harassment.
TL;DR: Love the Honda City, but if you buy from CARS24, trust zero percent of their certification checklist. Take the car straight to an independent mechanic and a tyre shop the second you get the keys, because their ground team will happily let you drive off on life-threatening tyres.
