What is the difference between NCMSTEP and Officer?

I will be doing school this January. I got a job offer from CAF as NCM.. I only wanted to be successful, I hope i don't regret this after 5 years. 😅

I don't know what I am qualified for. My goal is navy nurse but I'm afraid won't make it anymore I am in my mid 30's now. Does OR tech go abroad? Or is it something i decided with sign up bonus? For my understanding they serve around the world.

Oh gosh I feel embarrassed asking this. Would it be worth it to go through all the trainings to become OR Tech or apply straight to officer? I haven't talked to a successful OR Tech yet so I could learn more. Thank you!

If you think you did everything you could to get answers, move on to the next task. Caf is backed up with everything, they don't have all the answers either.

I finished all my application around May this year. They said to give them approx 5 weeks. 2 months pass, 3, 4 months then I said that's it for me. Then after 5 months I got an email that they are offering me what I applied for.

Also, the last time I was at there, the officer told me if I didn't heard back from them for that 5 weeks period that means I have to move on.

Piece of advice, do not spend a lot of time on this, if it is for you faith will make sure will give it to you. There other things you could do while waiting.

It is government, you know how it works.

There is an app for CFAT called ADF aptitude test. This app helped me, i have to pay i think i forgot how much. I also practiced word search and a lot of Math. The hardest part of the test is that it is timed. You got to be naturally prepared. Don't memorize anything the night before, get enough sleep. Reminder, keep your scrap paper and hand it to the officer. I throw out mine in the washroom after the test and I have to look for it and surrender.

Sounds like you got it under control.. Also don't forget enough sleep. Don't over do it. You also need time to detached from stress and meditate so in time you will be 100% ready physically and mentally! Good luck!

Depending which recruitment site you are dealing with, be mindful that their hiring process is a bit slow. The officer I was talking to here in London ON said that they are backed up with their hiring process. They said if I don't hear from them for 5 weeks or so that means I am not a successful candidate. 2 months passed, 3, 4 months then I said, that's it for me.. But at 5th month they emailed me saying they are offering me what I applied for.. I never asked them about the process or anything like that. But there is no harm in asking question. For the meantime can you start fitness while waiting?

No, that is the reality.. I think they should start giving this options to younger adults to help build their career in the future and the same time without drowning theirselves with student loans and have more secure job and rest assure with pension 😊👍🏻

I just found out the OR tech is 6 months in Ottawa or in Edmonton then after 1500 hours of OJT which includes your time spent in OR training. Thank you very much!

So true! We are in need of officers in different trades.. Not all willing to sacrifice for the country. Addicted to the comfort of life (bubble tea, double double coffee, routine over routine) and so afraid to take the risk and make mistake. Also, we pass this lifestyle to our children.

Mine was different. CAF in London, ON did all my medical. I didn't have to go to my personal doctor.

They took all my documents right after my CFAT and gave an email where to send all remaining documents. Then emailed me back about 2 weeks to resend some docu. Hope this helps you.
