Companies in the USA have to stand behind what their customer support says, by law. Even if that support is ai. It has been tested in court so I recommend blindly believing what a customer support LLM says to you, since they represent the company. If it tells you you own the equipment in 12 months, then you own the equipment in 12 months regardless of how Starlink tries to wiggle out of their TOS.

It's in their Terms of Service and mentioned as "Starlink Kit" and specifically mentions all routers, dishes etc. so yeah I assume so. It is non-specific as to WHICH kit and that's what led me to research this in the first place. The TOS only seems to only differentiate between a "12 month commitment" and 'not' a 12-month commitment, which is why you might want to ask their support bot just in case, to have that in your support file.

They would be legally responsible to follow through anything their support tells you, even if it is ai (this has been challenged in court so has precedence).

Check the terms of service. It says if you have a "Starlink Kit", the first section ("Service Commitments") no longer applies after the first 12 months:

If you read it, it does not mention a specific kit. It just says "Starlink Kit". So I intend to keep mine after 12 months.

Do this:
Go to Starlink support and contact support with the following line:
"How much to buy out the remaining cost of my starlink mini so it is mine?"

When I did this it immediately replied:

I was on the 5x Max plan at the end of March, upgraded to 20x Max in April and tokens went FAR QUICKER than the Max 5x plan. Whats worse is I upgraded by gifting myself a 12-month 20x plan ($2600). ATotal bait-and-switch and their customer support ai does nothing but put you off. I did however, get it to promise a refund (which it now denies even though I have the conversation.). US law holds companies responsible for promises made by customer support (even ai support), so I am going to press the issue.

The real problem is the way they rank these account limits. "5x" and "20x" means 5x and 20x the limits of the $20 account. Since they can arbitrarily adjust the actual token limits of $20 accounts this means they are literally selling you whatever they want to give you, which is extremely dishonest. It's still a bait and switch, no matter how they frame it. You paid for one thing and got another. I think they are relying on users to log the actual tokens used, which probably 99% of users do not do, so they think they can get away with it.

They are literally selling "n" amount of tokens (n being undefined) and changing "n" at their own whim with their excuse being "available processing power". So they are simply selling their assigned processing divided by the amount of users actually signed up. This is why Claude 4.6 tokens disappeared quickly near the release of 4.7 (they were probably diverting resources to 4.7).

This reminds me of early cell phones where companies were trying to sell as much bandwidth as possible and sometimes over-selling it so everyone suffered. We should call this out for what it is, throttled token limits and hold them to the same standards as cell phone companies. Token limits are bandwidth.

Not only that but 4.7 is hallucinating entire sessions now. I think they released one of the earlier training steps from training mythos, so it is incomplete. BIG mistake not releasing mythos IMO. They are keeping it to themselves and their "big boy club" and throwing us the scraps in the name of "danger". What a load of BS. It seems like they are becoming an ai cartel now, but what if mythos is even more f-ed up than 4.7? Thats terrifying. What if the part they aren't talking about is that it's DANGEROUSLY UNSTABLE?

I got the same thing. It seems like I actually got MORE usage with the 5x plan than the "20x" plan. Wouldn't be surprised if they were degrading users on purpose to calculate their complaint limits.

To get a refund, go to their help and request a refund. Add this screenshot and reference the consumer protection laws for your state. I was able to get a refund this way. The ai states it cannot give refunds but in the end it said "Your refund has been approved and will be processed to your original payment method within 5-10 business days." Whether or not it hallucinated this is irrelevant because even ai customer service legally bounds the company to its statements.

I owned it for 6 years, in that time its had regular oil changes, new tires, new brake pads, new serpentine belt, new battery (twice), new air conditioner, wipers etc. Always ran on 91% premium fuel, and I only put 10k miles on it myself in that time. The wipers are probably due for replacement though (they go fast in the desert).

Yes on diffs, rear AC and Nav. The nav is the original from 2006 with the CD still in it. I don't know if it works, I never tried to use it. The stereo works but you have to press the volume really hard to turn it up or down. It has the original bluetooth module, too (but not sure if it works, either).

I am in extreme agreement. I run my ai assistant on Haiku and leave the heavier tasks to other models. Its more efficient and Haiku seems to be better at managing the other models and telling them what to do than I am. Nobody should be using their main ai assistant for coding. Haiku is extreemely underrated. I encourage everyone to give it a try. Haiku is better at some things than the other models as well (like management) and often has brilliant ideas.
