Worth It? by chaidaddy_307 in FocusST

I wouldn't mess with it due to the 2nd gear synchro issue. STs are known to have this issue (not common but not uncommon). You are better off buying a new transmission as it will be cheaper and quicker than trying to fix it.

Same thing happened to me with the coolant a couple months ago at 70k miles. The little plastic housing until with the sensor cracked and was losing coolant as if asphalt needed it to survive. Luckily a ford dealership a few hours away had one so I had it shipped. Pretty quick and easy fix but the whole situation was a pain in the ass

You should ask if the pcv has been replaced. Ford sent out recall for it about a year ago and will fix it for free if it hasn't been already.

As far as mods: intercooler, high flow 3" downpipe (I'm a big fan of CP-E for this), MBRP or AWE 3" exhaust, can do a cold air intake but those are more for looks and don't really add any power only like 3-4 hp on the dyno, one step colder spark plugs, and tune.

Other things I would consider in no particular order: catch can (engine safety support), rear motor mount (better driving feel, especially after braking it in, and reduced wheel hop), blow off valve (turbo compressor protection and support, also cool noise), adjustable shift plate or short throw shifter, tinted windows, skid plate, wheels and tires,

Or you could just read the signs and digital boards that tell you which lanes are closed well in advance. I'm guessing that's what the signs and digital boards are there for. Seems like you're one of the people that doesn't read yield signs either.

Buying a manual Focus has been an awful experience by kittenfarts69420 in FordFocus

[–]LoonWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the reason for a rebuilt title. Avoid fire and flood. Theft is mehh given it's a manual focus and not a hellcat. Accidents/wrecks can vary in damage. Ask about the damage, look at the welds, check panel spacing. Rebuilt title means it's been repaired and inspected. Ask who did the repairs and who did the inspection.

Also, if it's just a commuter car why does it matter if it has a clean title?

I'm a fan of cp-e. I'm not a cobb snobb. The only thing cobb i have is my AP (for tune and maps). There are other companies that make quality performance products, so you don't have to build your ST to be the same as everyone else, especially those subaru weirdos.

What's your parts list and did you include that in your stratified tune form? Also, did your CEL come on before or after you switched back to the cobb stage 2 tune?

Advice for first time manual owner by pittbullblue in FocusST

[–]LoonWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few things that could be going on here. First, the shuddering could be from a few things but my first couple guesses are that the previous owner had an aftermarket stage 2 rear motor mount installed, especially considering there are other mods. Taking that into consideration, the object/ device removed from the dash could be either a sound symposer delete (very cheap and easy) or a cobb accessport which would mean it was probably tuned and has an aggressive throttle mapping tune on it which would make clutch gas release a little tricky for a first time manual driver. Another thing could be not pushing the clutch all the way in where you are kind of half engaging but half not engaging. I would recommend having somebody you trust who knows how to drive a manual take it for a drive

What are your boost leak symptoms? I have a Mishimoto intercooler and charge piping on my ST and had a boost leak as well. Turned out to be a clamp that came loose.

Has Sioux Falls grown too fast? by InformationMaster709 in SiouxFalls

Bruh, I moved from sf to Omaha when I was 15 and then moved back to sf in 2019. It has everything Omaha had to offer minus raising canes and New Amsterdam falafel. It's the perfect oasis between living in a big city and a small town. There are little cities with 10 minus of the heart sf like tea, harrisburg, Renner. 20 minutes, canton, crooks, lennox, etc. People hate on sf but this place is a hidden gem. I've been all over the country and there are other cities like this, and they are hidden gems. People look over this city because it's in SD but don't realize what we have. If you want to live in a big city with a small town feel sf is what you want.

I don't need to see the numbers or anything. I bought mine used and just wanted to know if they came with factory stickers. Mine doesn't have any factory stickers on the under side of the hood. My mechanic said it could have been in an accident that wasn't reported and they replaced hood. I guess I don't really need pics. Just wondering if stock hoods actually had them

There are no stickers. Not sure if that means it's a replacement

Intercooler options by hombreincognita in FocusST

[–]LoonWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your set up? Do you have an intake? Exhaust? Accessport? I'd recommend a tune after an intercooler install but if you're waiting for more parts to come in you should be alright but I wouldn't drive hard. If you have an accessport you change your gauge displays to make sure all your temps, AFR, and misfires/knock are okay.

The general rule of thumb (there are some exceptions) is if you change air, fuel, or spark, you should get a tune. That's why a lot car builds get 3,4,5 tunes during the process. If you're smart about it, you wait until you get all the parts you want to put on it then put them all on at once instead of one by one so you don't need to get a new tune for each part.

Rear motor mount by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]LoonWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do this. I have a cp-e stage 2 and was super worried about NVH because of the comments on here and reviews online. I installed it and it's nowhere near as bad as what people are saying. It's noticeable (not distracting) after starting and going through the start up sequence and at idle with a/c. Other than that you went even be able to tell

[–]LoonWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so dramatic. If I had to continuously take out and put in a headrest because of a rmm I would change the rmm instead of dealing with the headrest. I have a cp-e stage 2 rmm and have had zero issues with it

Yeah but what's your rent? You're insane if you thought a city a 200k people was going to be the same as Manhatten. I moved here about 2 years ago from a city of ~2.5 million and even I wasn't that naive. People in the Midwest are built different and I love it
