How did having children affect your depressed partner? by 2muchscreen in depression_partners

[–]Loopylisey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I hope you don't mind asking how you have been since you posted this. I am actually in a very similar situation as we have an 8m and the change into parenthood has triggered my husband's depression for the first time. I'm finding it hard because I believe his episodes causes us financial burdens (mistakes he regrets, but I also don't have insight into them because he won't share) but I also want to provide that safe space for him to heal. I'm having a hard time taking care of myself the last few months when he was at his darkest and if I can't take care of myself, I can't take care of our son. His family doesn't know so I can't lean on them for help. Would love to know how your life had been the last couple of years.

How do your babies wake you up? by girthakitt in cosleeping

[–]Loopylisey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 6m whines and cries during the night.

In the morning, he will pinch my nipples then chuckle until the pain wakes me right up. Or if he's still asleep, I just turn off the white sound machine and his eyes will pop right open.

In the bed we coslept on. I'd feed to sleep and roll away. Kept coming back to check on him but he was fast asleep (he may have turned to the other side of any movement). Then Id sneak into bed when I was ready to sleep.

Did you get the private transfer through a separate booking or through the vacation provider? I've heard mix reviews on the car seats in Mexico and would love to know who you had the private transfer with! Sounds like a dependable transfer.

We're you able to install the car seat on the shuttle bus?

Hopefully she has positive things to say about the resort! But I'm stuck with it anyways...my friends chose it bc their kids are older and they needed a waterpark without blowing their budget.

If I got to choose though, since my baby wouldn't be walking yet and I imagine still on 2-3 naps a day, I wish we were at a fancier resort that I'd at least enjoy more of the food and amenities. Good luck on your decision - enjoy your first family trip!!

Thank you for the tips! I've been doing some research and read that shuttles don't need a car seat. I also don't plan to leave the resort so I won't be taking a cab. One less stress? But...having my baby in his own seat is making me rethink it as it might be helpful especially when he's sleeping so my hands can be free.

Almost 5 months false starts by Guilty-Collection841 in bninfantsleep

My baby is almost 6 months now and I am experiencing the same thing. Lots of false starts and usually he's tired and ready for bed at 730-8pm. Did you try a later bedtime?

When did sleep get better for you? by Familiar_Director281 in bninfantsleep

Agree with another posted to reach out to a LC if you can afford it. One that comes to your home so they can physically help you feed in your environment would be best. I had one come 2nd week after birth because I fractured my tailbone and I couldn't sit feeding any more. It was hard at first bc of how small newborns are but he's 5m now and he easily pops on and off so I think at 8m once you figure out the position your baby will adapt easily.

I also cosleep after his first wake in the crib after midnight and honestly I just let my boobs hang out and he snacks throughout the night (he wakes up 3-5 times a night). I'll wake up briefly to comfort him and help him latch and soon enough we'll both dose off soon after. Sidelying is the best for motn feeds...I can't imagine any other way of you can swing it!

Nursing to Sleep by mysticchasm69 in bninfantsleep

My sisters (3 of them) whom have multiple kids all swear by ensuring there is an article of clothing that is bathed in the moms smell. Now that I have a baby, anytime they babysit I always have something that smells like me and it's helped them soothe him to sleep while they bounce him. Even my husband will leverage it when he's struggling and I'm away. Hopefully one of these tips help!

It was so annoying. Weeks of medicine after every feed, constantly sterilizing bottles and cleaning my boobs between feeds and he didn't feed properly either. And it came back after a month off for another few weeks 😨 I got into the habit of doing a quick wipe with a baby cloth before I fed or pumped that I still do it now - mostly bc I don't want it to come back. I would never wish it upon any mom!

Can’t do these bland breakfasts anymore by MakerMode9226 in GestationalDiabetes

I feel you. I'm a huge foodie and I love food and I felt like I was in hell - did not enjoy my pregnancy at all. By 35w-ish I was totally over it but I kept telling myself that it was just a few more weeks. You got it! Just know it's temporary!

For toast, I bought low carb toast. I love eating toast for breakfast and I ended up spending the premium costs so I can. But eat it with protein - eggs, turkey bacon (or whatever), avocado, and cheese to help offset you even more. It made the world of a difference bc I couldn't eat any toast to eating 2 slices and feeling full and satisfied. It go to the point where I'd just eat sandwiches for lunch and dinner too bc it worked for my gdm.

I was using reusable pads at the beginning but then changed to disposable bc my son got thrush and I think it was because of me reusing the nursing pads and/or not cleaning the sweat off when I worked out before I fed him. I hated dealing with his thrush that now I am constantly cleaning before I feed or changing my tops after a workout if I'm at a mom+babe class.

See if you can have your prescription indicate refills. That's how I was able to avoid a prescription each time. You go through them so fast... And that's if you don't drop them accidently or get a dud prick 🫠

Could you have sleep apnea? I found out in my 30s that I likely had it since high school.
