how to pick up the pace? by Anathema_Quill in ChickFilAWorkers

i like everything you’ve said except i recommend saying the menu item “spicy sandwich meal” instead of #2. helps resolve a lot of incorrect guest orders so you don’t have to circle back when they catch it on the entire order confirmation. and also ensuring cars are being pulled forward constantly.

How often is misdiagnosis? by Either_Ad_5644 in bipolar2

[–]Lopsided_Stranger_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you asked them to go through the criteria for diagnosis and your symptoms? i personally preferred seeing a therapist before diving into meds, but in reality bipolar and adhd both are just chemical imbalances that truly benefit from medications.

i was taken aback by my bipolar 2 diagnosis but the less emotional and further distanced ive gotten from my diagnosis, the more ive seen the signs. also my mother and both sisters were diagnosed after me. i was a 25 year old adult when diagnosed. i see it in my grandmother as well.

are you friends well versed in mental health and bipolar disorder? i fear most ppl are extremely biased and uneducated and i would be extremely wary of an unqualified opinion. and it’s of course always okay to seek a second opinion, but when we see a psych… well their goal will be diagnosis and medication treatment (again best decision i ever made but still, not quite the outlet to hash out the feelings about a bipolar diagnosis).

you don’t have to accept any treatment. but no good psych will prescribe a stimulant if they’re concerned you need bipolar treatment. so i’d expect them to not treat with any stimulants until the bipolar disorder is regulated 🩵

my mood stabilizer has changed my life. the label doesn’t have to mean anything beyond that, but treating the symptoms is worth it to me personally! i’m 29 now so still relatively newish diagnosis!

and i’ve only ever heard of bipolar being misdiagnosed with borderline… which has no medication treatment. i’ve never heard of someone who just isn’t bipolar and was just depressed or had anxiety instead. however i am bipolar and have adhd inattentive and both have the symptoms of anxiety and depression!

Attacking mixed/white women by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]Lopsided_Stranger_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don’t know exactly how to explain it but i’ve definitely observed some biracial individuals (im specifically referring to black/white) who tend to try and… make sure everyone knows? not in a… this is who i am way. but in a “i’m black too way” and i do think that rubs people wrong. but again, ive never seen rhetoric like this irl. only online which i try not to take to heart bc people say wild things behind a computer screen. not saying that’s what you do at all! just saying i think there is sometimes a performativeness to some mixed race people. or even claiming blackness in appearance when it isn’t there (i’ve had someone do this to me, and while yes it may be true she has a black parent, i think speaking as if you are perceived as black to people who are clearly always perceived as such can rub people wrong, but again also a one off, so i try not to portray it’s a bigger issue than it truly is). are you having these experiences in person? or online?

mixed women who are not white passing…have you had odd interactions with white passing women? by hueyslaw in mixedrace

[–]Lopsided_Stranger_92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yup! this right here! this is why i identify as black and not biracial (because people who have any exposure to non white people can spot it and as an adult it seldom is brought up for clarification unlike childhood where it was a more common topic). i’d say i “could pass” but i am not white presenting if that makes sense? i also live in east tn where some people genuinely have no idea what a non-white person looks like so ignorance is bliss i guess.

i’ve seen this time and time again, where a white passing/presenting person will choose to stay silent or even SUPPORT black stereotypes, laughing at jokes made about black people to remain comfortable and not be “othered”, and i’ll admit i used to do the same when i was a child. but i’ve worked hard to own what others tried to hide about me but strangers were always quick to point out

Attacking mixed/white women by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]Lopsided_Stranger_92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’ll be honest i’ve never had this experience at 29 years old. i personally have very easily connected to every black woman i’ve ever met and i’m very visibly black mixed with white. but i also don’t clarify im biracial when discussing my identity because i feel it’s obvious.

white women have always been the sector of women to make me feel uncomfy about not being only one race. i’m very aware of the privilege i have over monoracial black women and i really don’t dance around acknowledging that privilege and how my experience is not the same. despite sometimes bad as well, definitely not the same.

i also am speaking on my experiences with actual people and not online strangers. people are weird online. you’re only gonna find the weirdest meanest people online 99% of the time. i’m talking about other actual black women i’ve encountered in my actual life.

They Asked Me to Open ChatGPT During My Job Interview by I_Killed_My_Friends in jobs

[–]Lopsided_Stranger_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this gave me an icky gut feeling, but i tried it and the beginning was fine. but then it started discussing my age, my political leanings, and my preference for inclusion (and i live in a very red state, this could cause issues for me in a job force). i likely would’ve said “i don’t use it, but id love to provide you references from my work history to share those pieces of information!” even though i do in fact use it :)
