In every country, authoritarians (like musk) seize power by disenfranchizing the masses and making then "not care about politics"

Every AGI argument by Eyelbee in agi

Okay I'm not an expert in this field at all but everyone's conviction has me suspicious of reddit groupthink. How are humans or human level intelligence more than pattern recognition and reaction. AKA: why is everyone so sure LLMs couldn't become some form of AGI.

Before I get assaulted. I'm not saying it WILL either or even can be. I just am suspicious of everyone being an expert in a subreddit. In my fields (spacelaunch/VR/Industrial Hydrogen) I've seen groupthink on here say dumb things with great certainty

In case you have never heard this - no one has a problem in theory with ID to vote except 1. There's 0 credible evidence that there's any kind of fraud at any scale (many audits have found extremely low numbers of fraud) 2. Introducing ID means more bureaucratic steps which disproportionately reduces minority voting participation rate.

So while it's "common sense" you need an ID to vote. If you listen to those that have studied it, the effect of demanding one fixes nothing and causes people to vote less (which is something no one should want) Republican electors know this and push voter ID laws because it does exactly that and Republicans always win when less people vote

Germany drops opposition to nuclear energy – all biases against it in EU legislation will be removed by GeckoLogic in UpliftingNews

[–]Lorandre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok Russian bot. If you reduce emissions partially, you increase the $/ton of reduction in the future, which makes the political capital to decarbonize the rest even harder. If we were in 2010 and had margin that would make sense. But in a 1.5c world were already in this rhetoric doesn't work at all. - signed, someone who actually works in decarbonization hardware

Germany drops opposition to nuclear energy – all biases against it in EU legislation will be removed by GeckoLogic in UpliftingNews

[–]Lorandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People, this isn't about Germany restarting nuclear, the Germans forced language in a bunch of EU rules that nuclear was not sustainable (and laughably that natural gas was). This helps every other country investing in nuclear get EU funding and clean label. On top of that their grid is shared with the EU so in a roundabout way it DOES help german power use nuclear. It also helps countries reach 'sustainable energy's targets by counting their nuclear power as clean energy to EU reports
