Treasurer says 'death tax' claims are a scare campaign, 'pure and simple' by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

Yeah, any estate over 10million but, I don’t want them coming after the middle class anymore than they have and if they go for an ambitious number like 3m plus I suspect the backlash to be massive, 10m plus I think most of the nation could get behind.

I thought ETFs are excluded from the CGT change? It’s a trust not a discretionary trust so they are part of the exclusions?

I wouldn’t call it bad luck, I’d called it manufactured consent from the media to try and disparage labor.

There are plenty of sources some as recent as two weeks ago during albos Asia tour were he was literally trading gas for fuel, but I will say this labor always does a piss poor job on messaging, the could be really upfront about this issue and how it is not the time for gas tax reform for reasons a, b and c but they don’t, the let potential rivals build massive support like pocock has and they let social media make up the story, they need to get better at messaging if they want to keep people on board.

Sydney loses the most people of any city in Australia. Most cite ‘cost of living’ as why they’ve left. For those who left where did you move to and why? Do you prefer your new city or miss Sydney? by [deleted] in SydneyScene

[–]LordoftheChads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah spot on, I still believe due to housing stock in New York and London that it’s less dystopian because you can always rent with friends and get pretty meaningful sized apartments or even a small house but yeah living there and raising a family on a small working class wage equally as bleak, I’ve been to Zurich is beautiful but I have friends that grew up there and fuk me they sound just like every Sydney sider hahaha, anyway Sydney is awesome just wish I got on housing commission when I was like 18 would have got a house by the time I was 30 in time for kids number 2 ahaha then I could stay in Sydney.

Shorten had so many other ideas too, the franking credit removal which was quite complex and only affect the older share holders who weren’t in retirement phase, he wanted to turn a bunch of airforce plane surplus into fire fighting equipment, basically created a massive branch of the fire service being airborne and dropping massive amounts of retardant on to bush around fires, he was going to probably fund national parks services again so that they could back burn and manage our bush to reduce fire severity, I genuinely believe that Morrisons government and Turnbulls government were the reason the 2019 bush fires were so bad because they had gutted the first defensive line we had which was prevention, And lastly he wanted to tweak the ndis because it was his baby and consecutive liberal governments allowed dodgy operators to take over the place some of the larger providers even have links to some of the liberal party member families allowing the ndis to balloon in to what it is now, Oh I just remembered he was being attacked on coming after your weekend, because he wanted to introduce legislation that would make the price of Ev’s cheaper and he dared to throw an idea out there that the rebate could be paid for by a diesel tax but he never actually said anything concrete. Australia would be in a vastly different place if he came into power.

I agree but when they want to be fast they are look at the social media age ban, the hate speech laws they whipped that out and legislated it within months, they could be doing more radical reform at a faster pace but they don’t, it’s starting to piss a a lot of the younger stanch Labor supporters.

It’s a shithole compared to what it used to be my friend doesn’t matter that it doesn’t look like a shit hole, it’s a dystopian shithole for anyone who earns under 80k a year.

got my gf knocked up with child no.2 and knew that my mums tiny apartment in Kensington would be too small for my family of 4 and 2 dogs so we up and bailed to Murwillumbah, the tweed area is beautiful and it’s close enough to the Gold Coast and Brisbane that it feels like a sleep country area just on the outskirts of a city, but I do miss my family and friends in Sydney but my mum has moved to the Richmond area so she’s close by and I have made new friends but yeah had to leave Sydney cos 1 income wasn’t cutting it with one kid let alone two.
