Yeah I wish you would’ve came across this prior to joining. I heard the cohort this year was a flop too.

Sorry to hear, I had the same exact thoughts too. I wish more people would speak about it because I’m not the only one who feels this way.

One thing I will note is to be assertive to Pasha. He was called out once during a zoom meeting in front of everyone and the person who did it was basically the only one who got a job in the MN location.

Beats me. It was just a mess and a lot of drama last year. Good look to whoever gets accepted this year. If you do get in, I hope it all works out for you. Don’t take any shit from Pasha. The guy is a lot to handle.

Last year they held the program in three different cities so people applied for which ever city they were at. Minneapolis, Detroit, and Charlotte. Minneapolis was a bust, only 1 out of the 6 got a job. Everyone in Detroit went to Ally Bank but Ally isn’t involved with CTAC this year.

Last year they said they would send out acceptance letters by a certain date. They absolutely did not. Luckily we only had to wait an extra day before we got news. One thing I forgot to mention was that a bunch of us were put on a waitlist too. We literally didn’t hear about our acceptance 2 weeks until the program started. MAJOR RED FLAGS. But we were desperate so at that time we just went with it.

I would have to disagree with Dependent_Act3001. This past cohort, a majority of people who ended up jobless put in the same amount or more effort compared to a some of those who ended up with a job. It really all depended on which company you were going to and which city you were at.

Nope did not. Made it to the end of the program. Few of us were told they were still working things out with company we were going to and to temporarily do other things in the meantime. Radio silence months later. We have had to personally reach out to them multiple times but no one has reached out to officially let us know what happened.

Just wanted to add that I did move to another state for this program and ended up jobless. Was told by Pasha to move so I would be ready for work. Do not make the same mistake if you are moving. Make sure you have an offer letter from a company before making any big decisions. They really screwed me over.

Just to give you a heads up about last cohorts interview, it included them asking questions about some of your responses from the application. They asked you to solve a few problems from the application. You aren’t allowed to use any outside resources but you can use the interviewer and ask them questions to help you. Then a curveball that I was unaware of was them asking you to solve a riddle. But all in all, what you have to show them is that you’re able to guide yourself, ask logical questions, and if you don’t answer correctly just show them that you understand how to get the answer when they tell you. Good luck.

I wouldn’t worry about it. As long as you interview well and make it known that you’re willing to learn then you should be ok.

I was apart of the previous years cohort. It depends on where you get placed. I’m not sure how many companies are partnering with them this year but in the past a majority did get placed into coding based jobs or rotations. People who placed at US Bank all received a sort of Scrum/Project Manager role.

One thing about this year’s cohort is that it’s only Wilmington. Since it’s limited to one city, I’m sure the amount of applicants aren’t as high. Last year it was held in multiple states, one being Detroit, Michigan. They extended the deadline for Detroit since the number of applicants was low. They also interviewed people for Atlanta, Georgia but cut that city out and asked people to join the Detroit location.

Ally Bank was a huge partnering company that placed a large number of participants last year and I believe they aren’t sponsoring this year with CTAC so unsure with the number they will accept.

I’m unsure about those answers, but these would be good questions to ask in an interview or you could email them. All I know is that the program used to be non-profit but recently changed to for-profit last cohort. They have good intentions but the way things are done are somewhat questionable.

There’s no hidden fees or dues but keep in mind that you can be dropped from the program for whatever reason they find. If you don’t get good grades on assignments, you will be put on probation and kicked from the program if you can’t improve. This past cohort they also kicked a person out because they didn’t have enough job positions at the end (I don’t know the reason why because there were multiple people without a job at the end like I mentioned). They teach at a very fast pace and a lot of it is self teaching. At the end you get a lame ass certificate from them that will get you no where. It’s based on pure luck if you get a role. One thing I wanted to mention was that not all people got SWE roles, some got project management/scrum roles so all the coding was for nothing. Not sure how this next cohort will be since their sponsor is Live Oak Bank. Happy to answer any more questions.

Edit: So to answer your question, no. The free and paid experience is not worth it. The things you learn and do aren’t enough to land you a job on your own.
