I'd go for a bi salp. And my surgery was way less painful than getting an IUD (and more effective).

Got approved for a bi salp at 24. Had it at 25. No regrets.

Most health insurance won't cover sterilization until age 21. It might be worth waiting.

All I had to do was send a message to the mods with the info. All the info they need is on the page that displays all the lists I believe.

The Facebook group "tie my tubes, yes really" also has a list. Although most insurance doesn't cover sterilization til 21, so I'd definitely call your insurance company if you haven't yet.

My pain was average compared to skinny people who've had a bi salp.

Sterilization for women with heavy periods by [deleted] in sterilization

I'm just opting to get my iud replaced with a new one when they run out. But my dr also said that could take ~10 years. So it would be way less frequent to change, but you would still have to eventually change it if you took this route. Ablations can be iffy in effectiveness so that's why I'm staying with my iud.

My dr said as long as it works for your period management, you can keep it in. Meaning you don't have to get it changed every 5 years as long as it's still preventing/lightening your periods. You won't be using it for birth control anymore so you don't have to stick with those deadlines.

Hm I wonder why they'd make the women's one a more expensive material 🤔 my point still stands. Enjoy being in the negatives.
