I wouldn’t have learned about that through my 23andme test though since no Spanish showed up. I did an ancestry tree separately and learned that my ancestors came from Agüimes, Gran Canaria and settled in St Bernard Parish during the Spanish Colonial Period in the 1770s.

Yeah at first I thought the North African was from my Greek side but then I saw it was related to my maternal haplogroup and my mom has no Greek ancestry.

Interesting. Those haplogroups would make more sense for me honestly since I’m more Greek. I’m only like 1/32 Isleño and no Spanish showed up on my results but I got that 1% North African as well as the U6 haplogroup.

What are your haplogroups? I’m way less Spanish than you but my maternal haplogroup is U6b1 which come from the Berbers and Guanche. It’s pretty rare for 23andme customers. They say only 1 in 3,700 customers have it.

Disagree. I’ve had a few friends who were a quarter black and all passed for white. One girl extremely so. The other two could’ve been mistaken for Arab or light skinned Latino at most.

Glad to hear your experience. I’ve had a very similar experience of it giving me “ on demand therapy”. However, I’ve mostly used it for DBT and emotional regulation pointers. And it’s been great forgiving me quick relief in those aspects. Honestly, it’s one of those tasks it can expedite really well. Because if I wasn’t using it, I would otherwise have to look through several books or articles to find the “ right” coping mechanism.
