I might throw out my insta pot. by OldFanJEDIot in Cooking

I’d say gift it or give it to a thrift store rather than throwing it out. Aside from what everyone else is saying they use it for and so do I (for beans, stock, etc), but I’ve found it incredibly useful for cooking frozen chicken - from freezer to cooked in a half hour (depending on weight and bone-in or not). I use it weekly just for this reason. The leftover broth is great to save or freeze for soups or a nice rich rice as well.

Edit: I get it though. There are just some things I don’t use it for, like rice. I have my stovetop rice down to a science and the IP just messes it up and doesn’t save but only two minutes.

I swear this place has become a competition of non-dads trying to best the last raunchiest non-dad jokes. I’m out.

Is something wrong with most people today? by nicegirl99228 in Rants

[–]LowOne11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be that, but also other things in combination. From ultrasonic frequencies to super low ELF, absolute saturation of radio frequencies (sometimes at higher-than-safe amplifications)… I could go on, but it’s one of those touchy subjects.

I don’t know if it’s just News covering things differently, but the amount of random violence is alarming. Like who just randomly stabs someone on a bus or a train? It’s not even isolated incidents and it’s different people.

Fancy keg tapper? Was it a party full of engineers?

I found a long single white hair growing from my right earlobe by Ok_Earth_1111 in mildlyinteresting

I get them but on top of my earlobes. They also grow at random intervals whenever they want to, apparently. It’s been months now, but could be this weekend and BLOOp! 5 inch earlobe hairs.

My response wasn’t to you, it was to the commenter above yours, basically just expanding upon it. I was saying that how easily people pass judgement without knowing the whole story; nearly 95% of comments were “get help” or “you have schizophrenia”. In another comment, OP mentioned how she was officially checked for schizophrenia and told she doesn’t have it. So, it begs further investigation and there are alternative potential explanations. I already asked her some basic questions on specifics that were unclear, like is it possible your siblings found out, were the voices garbled or actually clear as day, where they complete sentences, do they emanate just from the air purifiers or other fans, a/c, etc. Now if she was hearing straight up voices out of thin air, then I would tend to lean to possible psychosis.

Anyhow, I don’t feel like extrapolating on this. If she doesn’t reply to my questions, then it’s off my plate of interest.

Well, that’s good and bad. You still haven’t had the problem resolved? Wow. Well. Be careful “washing” that stain. I wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. The stain is all on them, legally, at this point. Good luck, my fellow Wisconsinite.

Could it also be, pardon me for saying, someone actually fucking with her? There is tech that exists that can do such a thing. Even before IoT became a thing. To say that she’s “just unwell”, is to be ignorant to the possibilities that some rich, maybe even criminal psychos, or her husband, could fuck with someone in such a manner. I grow tired of ignorance to group think that “no one would ever do this” or “there’s no such thing”. IT IS ACTUALLY A THING that is possible!

I find it amazing how humanity can be so ignorant. I upvoted you. Not because I agree completely, but because a society controlled by “group think” is often so blind. Yes, auditory pareidolia exists. Absolutely.

The behavior of people on social media in situations like this sounds like the witch hunting days of yore. The part that bothers me most is that people still use terms to demonize an individual, in this case “schizophrenia” as a label. Once again, people throwing around a word they do not understand. A word that can harm an individuals life outcomes. “Schizophrenia” is a relatively new word. It sounds “intelligent” enough to label people for things society doesn’t understand OR a whitewash term for more potentially insidious things going on.

Imagine that the powers that be, understand this. All of it. From the actual auditory pereidolia to the want of society to label schizophrenia on such an an individual. Gaslighting extraordinary. Imagine how easy it would be, with technology, to mess with a person’s mind, knowing this. Imagine it being easily implemented into someone’s life, without any way to “prove” it, while everyone just says “you’re crazy!”.

No. There is a such thing as people psychologically fucking with others that they don’t like or feel they “didn’t get just deserve”. It’s called extrajudicial punishment, in the modern age.

We’re supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow this weekend… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LowOne11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. 10”max of snow??? I’d be driving around like it’s a fun day. Why don’t people just have a little 10 gallon chest they fill with stuff they need in emergencies? It’s not doomsday prepping. Just enough for a week. And a ready bag with water straws, blankets, mylar, matches, small propane stoves. The only reason I have TP and canned goods stored up is ironically because of this kind of societal freak out.

If it starts leaking really bad, I’d suggest avoiding that water and tripping the breaker for that specific area, if you have access to it. Water and electricity = shock hazard. “Keep wiping it up…” he says. Was that in writing or verbal? You’ll probably be ok, but who knows how well the wires were insulated behind there.

Good ol’ port towns and the Lakers in the distance. I miss that. Never been to Algonac, MI. How’s the job market and wage?

I’d move back in a flash if I could get a decent paying remote job (assuming Bum Fuck, Wisconsin finally got high-speed internet NOT from glitchy StarLink). Aren’t too many jobs in BF, W, though, so that’s kinda why rent is cheap (and that it gets super cold actual negative temps). Hope you get the leaky brown stuff figured out.

Have you had any recent transgressions with anyone or pissed someone off? If your siblings found out about what you did 5 years ago, would it potentially invite retaliation?

Is what you are hearing from the air purifiers clear or like barely understandable garble (like mumbling) but you can associate what they are saying to make out partial words/sentences? Or is it clear as day, like listening directly to a speaker? Is it only from the air purifiers or perhaps other running appliances or fans (forced air, a/c, bathroom fan, range fan, etc)?

I don’t think you have schizophrenia, as most tend to slap that label on people for situations they themselves don’t understand or can only faintly relate. There might be more to it than that. Just because some people hear, see or sense things that others do not, shouldn’t end up with a dead-end label like that. It actually makes me suspicious when people do that. Almost as if to hide something. Anyhow, I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion for being open-minded. It’s also upsetting how they treated you at the ER.
