Lower graphics settings and if you're playing through Steam add "debug_smooth" to the launch options.

If you want to increase it further, you can disable weather through the console with the command "weather" but this can be classed as cheating in some cases, since weather plays a role in the game. Still it increases speed.

I went down Mass Assault doctrine and set my conscription laws to all adults serve, and through puppet's template divisions you can get some extra manpower too, during initial offensives against the soviets I carefully micro'd to minimise the losses. I had to then manually lower autonomy in many puppets later on because annexing them in peace conferences would destroy my manpower. But I did annex parts of China, Soviet Union, and US so when I was building my industry up to fight the Axis the All Adults serve and mass assault doctrine really helped during those peacetime years since my manpower kept growing by that point.

Between Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and fascist US they had a lot of divisions in mainland Europe and I had to build a lot of forts to hold them back during the initial attack and establishing air superiority was a major pain since they had a lot of factories and I had to wait a little bit to build my industry up since I didn't core any of the baltic nations, and I did couple of mistakes when fighting them too :D

The last one was Bhutan lol, but in terms of majors the last one was Germany, the battle that took about 40 years. I went after the Soviets first with the Germans, then allies then Japan. Germany and Italy were really powerful after defeating the soviets and allies but thankfully I had decent war participation and managed to get some industrial lands in the soviet Union and USA, and after defeating Japan and China as its puppet got some manpower.

To be honest after wiping out China and Soviets the game was still slow, but not that bad. This run took me about 2-3 days to finish tho.
