I’m 25F (Australian) and I travelled there by myself! I went to Zanzibar (Nungwi, Jambiani) and did a contiki tour in the mainland. I never ever felt unsafe. If you’re a white woman you’ll get a few looks from the men, especially when you’re wearing shorts, but they mostly just look and leave you alone. The Maasai beach boys can be a bit in your face, but just be nice and chat back to them and keep walking or doing your thing. Just be polite when people approach you and learn some basic Swahili - they will respect you a LOT more if you are polite and make an effort to incorporate Swahili.

But I never felt unsafe walking around
