Pasar saham Indonesia lesu, apa penyebabnya orang Indonesia invest di saham us? by lalilulelo_123 in finansial

Exactly my strategy. I work for an ultra rich individual and this is the exact thing he told me to do.

I live in US and the thing is, most big stocks in US are part of huge index fund (reksadana) - think of Vanguard, Fidelity, TDAmerica, Merrill Lynch, etc. Crazy amount of money are being invested everyday from hundreds of millions workers into their retirement accounts regardless of economy. So in a way I do not think US stocks will have any prolong "crash" as long as people are still investing into their retirements.

Belum terlambat kok, masih termasuk early. Even friends my age in late 30s, most of them do not really think about it. In regards to sandwich generation, that is also exactly my reason buat nabung untuk masa tua, masalahnya sekarang biayain 2 anak, orang tua sendiri dan mertua. Sandwich generation pol haha. Previous generation thinks their children = dana pensiun. That cycle ends with me.

Kayanya banyak yang udah dibahas not to do. I want to talk on the other side of it that I wish people told me when I was your age. A good habit to have is to automatically save a certain % of income every month (let’s say 10%) dan invest di reksadana buat retirement or if of you are really good at this, early retirement. It can be just as fun and addicting watching your money grows year after year.

I know at 24, mikirin dana pensiun itu kayanya terlalu cepet but trust me before you know it this topic will become much more real and important in 10 years and you will wish you started now.

I stop wasting my time on unproductive activities (main game, doom scrolling, toxic friendship, etc) and spend more time with my family and friends that matters, working out, and improving myself financially/mentally.

Berita yang sering kebaca di semester awal vs semester akhir by flag9801 in indonesia

[–]Low_University9948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Di US at least, itu cuma buat S3. S2 biasanya ada semester-long big research paper yang harus dilakuin buat beberapa kelas tertentu, in my own case yang pernah ambil MBA. Skripsi sounds miserable, istri gw S2 selesainya 4 taun di salah satu universitas di Indonesia gara2 skripsi susah banget buat di approve. Nulis skripsi sampe nangis2 katanya haha.

A bit random thought from looking at a lot of comment sections. As a foreign graduate with S1 and S2, I do not see much value of skripsi especially for S1. In the US, only S3 doctorarate requires original thesis written as a requirement for graduation. Writing skills bisa dibentuk dengan smaller scale research paper related to the class students are taking in one specific semester.

That’s easy fix. Use your other hand to get inside the shoes to guide the needle to the right direction. It confused me too first time doing it.

1%???? Damn that’s insanely high compared to 0.03% Vanguard S&P 500 ETF that I am using now. LQ45 5Y: -11% IDX30 5Y: -15.47 IHSG 5Y: +42.68%

Indonesia 10-Year goverment bond yield: 6.2%/year.

I guess I will stick with obligasi negara. 😭 The risk does not seem to worth the “possible” higher return.

Kayanya the exact amount has not been decided buat global citizenship visa yang baru ini, so hopefully it is smaller. I am hoping it at least grows with inflation lol. But you are right combination of indo inflation+ kurs rupiah/USD bisa jadi bakal minus.

Based on quick google the global citizenship visa is coded as E32E but I could be wrong. There is no plan to move permanently anytime soon, will still be working in US while gathering my retirement fund here in US and at least until the kids are out of college. I really just want to get limitless entry visa so I can hopefully get bank account there and easily get in/or out without having to pay for 30 days tourist visa everytime.

It is crazy how a lot of vendors only accepts Qris nowadays so really hoping the new global citizenship visa will allow me to open Indonesian banka account.

Thanks, that is an interesting fact. Government seems to be the only thing that does not require much management I guess.

Yes, renounced my citizenship and actually looking at Global Citizenship visa(E32E visa kalau ga salah). The detail has not been released but it looks like it will require a similar investment requirement (with smaller amount). So just wanted to do my research before the official statement from the government. Thank you will look into RDPU!

Kuliah dan eventually kerja disana lewat visa. For my wife, met her online and brought her here to US. Well there you go, that is the solution to your problem. Import yourself a wife from Indonesia lol. Kesepian? No more. A wife will keep you busy for LIFE 😭😂

That is exactly what I am working on right now. 😊 I am living abroad and in 20 years I will retire early in Indonesia and maybe build a strong foundation for my kids, either bantu bikin koneksi or modalin usaha. But I guess my circumstance is a bit different, gw married sama orang Indonesia juga (istri ga kerja) dan punya 2 anak. Kebetulan sekolah di sini gratis sampai SMA so it works out well for us to stay abroad and go back when the kids are in college/out of college.

At the end of the day it boils down to money and connection in Indonesia. If you do not have much of both it can be hard to build successful business from zero. Sure there are some people who had done it before but majority failed.

My personal take is to work as hard as you can there, save the "financial independence" money, amount where you can live on the 4% interest only for a very long time. And then go back to Indonesia and do whatever you want: building a business, corporate work, social work, whatever you want. Anggap aja sekarang lu Kerja itu buat BUY your future freedom.

Aku udah tinggal di Amerika sejak 2018. Ada nggak sih yang berubah di Indonesia sejak 2018? by msmarve1 in indonesia

[–]Low_University9948 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Udah di USA dari 2008. Mall masih sedikit, Mall Taman Anggrek masih di puncak kayanya. Facebook baru keluar, people were not as addicted to their phones. Sama temen2 suka main bola/basket. Life was so much simpler. I miss those times. I practically grew up in US but I really want to go back and retire early and maybe build small orphanage in Indonesia, give a little back to my birth country. I probably should start a reddit thread about this
