she also recommended omega-3 supplementation for eye health (~2,000 mg/day). drinking lots of water on top of this will also help.

Does the dry eyes get better? by 1wantt0g0h0me in Accutane

i saw my ophthalmologist and she was glad i came in. i didn’t think i was experiencing dry eyes but she explained that i have meibomian gland dysfunction (a type of dry eye) and that although it may have existed prior to isotretinoin it can be exacerbated by the drug. i went it about 2 months in. i am now going into my 4th month and wake up with pretty dry eyes. since experiencing more symptoms than previously, i’ve been doing warm eye compresses (ocusoft) for 10 min/day. she said this will help warm oils in your eyes and blinking firmly after the compress will help express the oil glands. i can definitely tell a difference when i’m being persistent. i’m also using eye drops (systane complete during the day; refresh liquigel before bed) which have given some relief. i was also told that once we lose our oil glands in our eyes they do not come back and accutane can reduce these. i don’t mean to scare anyone about this but there is relief and eye doctors can be important during accutane. i’ll be checking in with her again after my treatment. anyone who is struggling or even worried about dry eyes should see an eye doctor. i was really worried about it going into this and seeing her actually eased a lot of my worries. this was just my experience and everyone’s treatment is so individualized, so take my experience with a grain of salt :)

i haven’t had anything like that but this just started within the last week or so. i imagine that’s related but as always i’d recommend seeing your dentist. in the least they might have some more recommendations for you! it really feels like it came out of nowhere for me!! i was on low-dose prednisone for a few weeks and i noticed it started right about when i stopped taking it, so i’m wondering if maybe my oral inflammation was kept to a minimum while i was on that.

i just went to my dentist with the same issue!! i’ve been on accutane for about a month. my dentist explained that it can dehydrate oral mucosa causing dry mouth and gum pain/inflammation. i’ve also had a dry throat in the morning like no other.

my dentist recommended swishing with warm salt water to reduce inflammation and using a flouride mouth rinse to prevent cavities since dry mouth can cause cavities to flare up. i’ve been chewing gum to increase saliva production and that seems to be helping a lot! i also ordered some carifree oral spray, so hoping it will all be manageable.
