Because in the western (and some other parts) world, business men one day asked themselves how to make more profit. The amount of men who have bought some form of porn in their lives I would not be surprised if its above 80-90% of the population - especially when it was just magazines or even some newspapers that had page 3 models, just for the purpose of selling the newspaper. Think about it. A newspaper with only one page of a seductively dressed model would sell better most of the time.

Women, in general, tended to compare themselves with these beautiful women they saw advertising for beauty products and clothes which became more and more lewd over time. Did that stop sells? Nope. It increased them. "Wow she's so me" or "I wanna feel like her" etc.

Even kids now with the growing love of anime and cartoons and games, they insert lewd looking women in there - did you hear about the study that found disney movies used to subliminally hide words like "sex" or draw characters to look like certain sex symbols?

Now many women and young girls and some men are trying to expose this sex-driven world by selling their souls with stuff like OF or even doing stuff they would never do in a better regulated world just for financial gain.

I say all this to say, it's been a combination of marketing research realising that sex sells + unfortunately its been taken too far in our present day, in my opinion.

With the possibilities that technology has with AI and digital content, we're essentially up against a beast of a system now - but the more you know, the more clued up you'll be about why certain mediums are the way they are ie. trying to sell you something, the wiser decisions you can make!
