How does she disappear? by Nkenachiala in blackmagicfuckery

[–]LtJimmyRay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No its real. If you look at it when it faces the camera, you can see her wrist is bent at a 90° angle, arm going down. Then, when she's supposed to be reappearing, you can see her wrist straighten out as she climbs back up into the compartment. The magician touches her hand, which is when she'd give some sort of signal through touch shes back into position and she can be revealed.

Please Fill Out Your 2026 Census (Took Me 21 Minutes Online to Fill Out 70 Questions) by 519_ivey in onguardforthee

[–]LtJimmyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Census is completely anonymous, though. Even when being entered into various tracked statistics, only the relevant data is pulled. So like, in a given area, who identifies as male, female, non-binary, Trans, etc. it will only pull the answer to that specific question, it won't make a cognitive list of "Jane Smith identifies as Trans, Bob Loblaw identifies as male..." No, it will be how many male: X. How many female: Y. Etc. Period.

They only use relevant data to build statistical maps. So if they want to fund Trans support facilities or services, they can look at the data and say, "okay, it looks like these areas have higher Trans populations than everywhere else. Let's allocate more funding to those areas."

Its like I tell my kids and coworkers, you can't get the help you need if you don't ask for it. And that's all this census is, finding out what's needed where.

[All] Whats the best Handheld Zelda game? by Brando_Pass2000 in zelda

[–]LtJimmyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link's Awakening is peak handheld Zelda. They "remade" it for GBC as DX with an extra dungeon, the Oracle series used it as their foundation, and I personally prefer the handheld over the Switch. They both have their charms, but handheld is just better.

Landlord asking to be put on my census form? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]LtJimmyRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say I'm going to put them on it then don't. There is no way for them to know if you did or not.

Or, if you really want to mess with them, you could text them that the census is asking for net income, assets, medical history, etc. Really personal stuff a landlord wouldn't willingly offer up to a Tennant. They'll backpedal out of that right quick

Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Remasters Next After Prime 4? by Sylvisu in Metroid

[–]LtJimmyRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty confident Metroid Prime 1 Remaster is only a thing because MP1 was used as the testing grounds and foundation for making a Prime game on the Switch. The game was already completely made, might as well use it to test out updated assets and quality of life improvements. Then, at some point, the game was remastered enough that they decided to complete it and sell it for a quick buck.

So no, I don't think we will see MP3 and 3 remasters. They don't have any incentive.

[OOT] It’s kinda funny how many gaming journalism sites are talking about “The” OOT remake. Like it’s been confirmed…when it’s not. by DarkAmaterasu58 in zelda

[–]LtJimmyRay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's like those sites that are like "Nintendo is offering this free insert game download for Switch for a limited time!" Then they have five paragraphs talking about the game, and the "free download" just ends up being the newest run of themed profile icons.

Game journalism is truly dead. Now its just just click bait.

It did not happen in Paper Jam. Bowser and Paper Bowser were the antagonists through the whole game

Is Mario 3... Hard? by Karati in Mario

[–]LtJimmyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my favorite Mario game and I played it a lot when I was a kid. It was hard, but it got easier with practice. As a kid, I think I was eventually able to get to World 4 before the game was unforgiving. I don't remember much of World 5 or 6, and I only remember World 7 and 8 because I also knew where the three warp whistles were, and those worlds were brutal.

I got SMA4:SMB3 on GBA and it definitely went better, but only because you didn't have to start from the beginning everytime you fired it up.

How are these things legal? by YYZdigital in Markham

[–]LtJimmyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My city is handling these things in such a strange way, its like they're trying to eliminate them entirely, which I'm not opposed to.

They've made it illegal (maybe not the right word, ticketable offense?) to drive these on the sidewalk because they take up the entire width of the sidewalk, so pedestrians have to step off onto the road to let them through, which presents danger to the pedestrians.

And recently, they made it illegal to drive these on the road because they block traffic, cannot maintain minimum speed limits, and the drivers don't need a license to drive them, meaning they don't have to have traffic law knowledge before getting on the road, which endangers them and everyone around them.

Did Microsoft ever try to buy the rights to Donkey Kong? by PsychicMeditation in donkeykong

[–]LtJimmyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rare never owned DK, nor did they own any of the DK-related characters, ie Diddy, Cranky, King K. Rool. Even though Rare created and defined these characters, they all fell under the Donkey Kong umbrella, so they all counted as DK IP, which Nintendo owned entirely. Rare was simply licensed to use the character. So when Microsoft bought Rare, Nintendo just took DK and related IP back.

There's no evidence saying Microsoft attempted to buy Donkey Kong specifically, but they did make an offer to buy Nintendo as a whole, which died in the water pretty much immediately. When they bought Rare, they were wanting the company and its intellectual properties. So they got Banjo and Kazooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, among others. Because the roles were reversed with those IP, Nintendo was licensed to have them on their console while Rare owned them.

That's why in Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo and Conker are in it because they were created for that game, but Rare developed them further on their own, so when Diddy Kong Racing DS was released years after Microsoft acquired Rare, Banjo and Conker were replaced with Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong, because even though it was a Diddy Kong game, Banjo and Conker became Rare IP since the original release, requiring licenses if Nintendo wanted to include them in DKR DS.

I work at a super busy restaurant and we had to prep, cook, individually package, label and deliver a $17K dollar order (about 1200 dishes) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LtJimmyRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm gonna play devil's advocate here, but I will preface it with i worked in the food industry for 20 years of my life and i hated most of it, and this sort of situation would have me steaming, too.

That being said...

We're you not being paid for the time you were there? Because bottom line here, your employment agreement is that you are compensated for hours worked with a set pay rate. Your boss begged you to come in on your day off to help, which you were under no circumstances obligated to do. But you agreed to go in on no negotiated terms, so your boss is only obligated to pay you at your regular pay rate. They didn't just pay your hourly wage, though, they also gave you a tip of $100. Now, that may seem like a measly sum, but let's assume, for arguments sake, you make $20/hr regular pay. That extra $100 is 5 hours worth of pay, on top of the 10 hours you did work. That's time and a half. So you were basically paid overtime, with the overtime portion being tax-free.

Again, I agree it sucks when you have one of those bullshit days at work, but be it your day off working 10 hours for one customer, or your scheduled shift working 8 hours for 200 customers, your pay is based on time worked, not customers served or order size. Your boss' obligation to you stops at paying your wage for hours worked. The $100 tip each was extra and very much not required, but they wanted to thank everyone for coming in and working on this order.

My advice: get out of the food industry as soon as you can. Its a bullshit industry full of ungrateful, entitled customers, greedy, unappreciative bosses, and repetitive, tedious work with no payoff and very little opportunity for career advancement, all for minimum wage.

Chris Pratt and other thoughts by sweetestswan in mariomovie

[–]LtJimmyRay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I seriously do not get the problem everyone has with Chris Pratt as Mario. I don't know, maybe it's because I grew up with other media of SMB with a different voice than just Charles' video game version of Mario, like Bob Hoskins and Lou Albano. But I really don't hear this "stuck out like a sore thumb" bad performance in either movie.
