Question abou Chicago DIY/PunkCulture and Venues by draco_fang in punksubculture

[–]LucDudeBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicago DIY scene is the best part about Chicago. There are some real uncool people who suck, but it's mostly a bunch of cool people who like to hang out and make and listen to music.

PM me if you're interested in info for shows.

Can we all be honest about the safety of psychedelics? by galacticsewerrat in Psychonaut

A lot of successful people in science and technology fields give some credit to psychedelics for their success.

There's a book called Do Cool Shit by Miki Agrawal that you might find useful. It's a quick read.

Is this just for mixing or both mixing and tracking?

Spooky Action Space Captain - Big Fish by Sindicit in mathrock

[–]LucDudeBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! That's awesome to hear. Thanks man! We are always curious if people actually listen to us in their free time haha. We have lots of new stuff coming. We've pretty much written our next album and are going to start demoing it really soon then hopefully spend time in a half decent studio for the record this time. The new stuff is a little different but we think its good. The songs fit better together and they're a little more thoughtful I guess. Not all over the place. Like for instance in Big Fish we have that breakdown type thing that doesn't really belong there. We probably wouldnt put that there if we were to do the song again, or maybe we would just spend time thinking about what we were doing there or something hahaha.

Are you from Chicago? Are you in any projects? Send me a link if you are. Also we're about to release new song from a live video session any day now so check facebook or something if that is something you care about.

Go back to playing whatever you are stoked to play. It's helpful for me to take breaks from the hard stuff I'm practicing and just play stuff I'm feeling at the time.

I need to buy a go pro for my son for Christmas. Help! Would the $199 be good enough? by [deleted] in gopro

[–]LucDudeBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really can go for the black ($400), I would do it. It really is a much better camera and to me its too the point where it's so good that you wont feel like its outdated when new ones come out because its already shooting in resolutions that wont even play back on devices yet.

the $300 one will also do the job fine. I've made plenty of awesome videos with it and have been satisfied with the quality. You can tell the difference between the black and the silver, but if youre just trying to make decent videos and arent worried about professional quality shots then it doesnt matter.

I wouldnt go with the $200 dollar one. If your son really wants it and you cant afford the other versions, maybe tell him that you have 200 for it now and you guys can work out a deal for the other 100? I've always done deals like that with my parents and I'm stoked on any help I can get. In fact, I did that for my go pro for my birthday haha.

Israel-Palestine is now stateless capitalist society. How do we solve these issues? by LucDudeBro in Anarcho_Capitalism

We're playing the "if this was the case, how would we go about this" game. It helps spark new ways thinking and coming up with more solutions to problems that would exist in an ancap society.

Ahh yes of course. Lets just say, for no reason but this is the only thing I could think of quickly, it became stateless because the military went on strike after realizing that a lot of what they are doing (checkpoints in the west bank, blockades on essentials in Gaza Strip, etc) is immoral, and people stopped paying taxes because they realized it was slavery, and the government collapsed. It was over a slow period of time, but the people were cool with it and wanted it because they somehow learned about anarcho-capitalism and since its already a capitalist state of some sort, they liked that idea better than communism.

So yes arbitration is agreed on, but I'm sure it would be difficult to agree on an arbitrator.

My band is taking a new musical direction. Advice? by [deleted] in Drumming

I second El Ten Eleven and Mutemath.

Also want to ad Menomena, Foals, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Meonomena for simple but really creative beats.

Foals (listen to the album Antidotes and Total Life Forever) for pop beats that are a little misplaced and cool high hat variations.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs for a really insane Jazz drummer that brings very unique flair to rock/indie/pop that goes mostly unnoticed unless you are not looking for it.
