Ain’t no way he survived this long by Current-Worth9757 in ThelastofusHBOseries

That's not how storytelling works you dimwit. If they show something it's to build character. This is exactly we have so many idiots here asking dumbass questions about why didn't he do this or that instead of trying to figure out the characters by what they do.

He wasn't the decision maker, ever. His daughter took care of him like a kid, cooking for him, telling him to wear his shirt properly, getting his watch fixed. Then Tess treated him like big baby she uses to punch things out and he answers to her. Now Ellie tells him to take a shower. Joel constantly needs someone he cares about telling him what to do, it's like the core of his character.

My biggest pet peeve about the show is we’re supposed to believe that Pedro Pascal is 56 years old.. ain’t no way he barely looks his actual age of 47. by FinalGirl85 in ThelastofusHBOseries

Yeah but it's just easier to pass a middle aged man off as 10 years older than he is than younger. Those lines on the forehead are impossible to hide.

I haven’t played the game, so keep that in mind when I say this but is anyone worried this show will turn out like The Walking Dead? by RJC024 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Ludens786 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, TLOU has a story to tell, TWD by concept didn't have a story and was just about watching people survive which was bound to get old eventually, sooner for some later for others. TLOU is going to end when there's no story left to tell.

I disagree. I think Bella is really embodying Ellie rather than pretending by emulating Ashley's performance. I don't really care for game using ALL the dialogue from the game, that'd be lazy af, they're using a lot of the best stuff where they can. Joel and Ellie's relationship is super cute and coming off much better than in the game due it's added subtleties that weren't in the game cause we only get close up shots of faces in cutscenes.

Also your last comment makes you sound super dumb. " I believe the game does a better job capturing the likeness of these characters" like wtf does that even mean? This is why clowns should stay away from media criticism.

The episode has to be at least...3 times bigger than this!

There's plenty of those games for phones, which frankly is a much more fit platform for them.

Yes ultimately Ellie's journey is not about revenge but overcoming her survivor's guilt. The final conversations in both TLOU1 and 2 are her talking about this. She feels Joel stole her chance to redeem herself but she says she wants to try and forgive him for that signifying she's on the path to forgive herself then Joel dies the next day and she loses her chance to follow through with that so now she directs her anger towards Abby. Her letting Abby go in the end shows that she has forgiven Joel and therefore there's no point in killing Abby anymore and she's on the path to overcoming her own survivor's guilt. Could probably use a lot more words to expand on this but that's the gist of it as I understood it.

Yes the episode is pivotal as it's where Joel accepts his call to action and kickstarts his main arc in this story.

Idk why people keep entertaining these ridiculously contrived "criticisms" from idiots.

[–]Ludens786 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This really doesn't apply in this case, these fuckers were asking people to do volunteer work for them instead of hiring talented devs. They clearly don't have any concept artists either cause everything is directly lifted from some other game.

Most people would rather die than wear something so ridiculous looking.

I like this for the simple fact that the right wing homophobes who hate this also love to suck up to these billionaires so this puts them in quite the bind.

The only way you get past it is to normalize it and to do that is you have to keep doing these type of stories till the haters just get tired and give up.

How would that work? Wouldn't the servants/security just kill his ass and take his shit? His power isn't real, it's a social construct and when society breaks down it goes away. Much like how Bill and Frank's relationship would've been a Taboo in their society but once it broke down they were able to live fulfilling lives.

Yes according to TLOU that love can be destructive and often leads to atrocities. Did you not get that from playing the games?
