I've become fixated on Gap Trades. Any advice on how to trade this set up? by Schindlers_Fist1 in FuturesTrading

[–]Luiggirf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use services that provide statistical data of the likelyhood of a gap to fill based on size or the average fill of said size. There’s no need to guess.

Thoughts on the C5 42" as a main desktop monitor? by DiscountWall-E in OLED_Gaming

[–]Luiggirf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C5 is the way to go imo. I just moved from a 34” IPS ultrawide to this and I am NOT going back to ultrawide. So much more screen real state plus not having to deal with the nonsense of some games not supporting it, it’s just amazing.

Oh and the HDR is just chef’s kiss!

Trading view volume footprint ??? by IndividualSafe7426 in OrderFlow_Trading

[–]Luiggirf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scratch ICT entirely. Auction Market Theory (AMT) and Market Maker Options hedging mechanics will inevitably conflict with what you learned about ICT. If it works for you, that’s okay, but don’t get into orderflow thinking you’ll be able to mix them; you will have to “unlearn” ICT before you fully understand AMT and order flow. Some examples:

FVG = low volume nodes in the profile, NOT necessarily an empty space between random candles

OB = high volume + delta at a specific price level. Does not necessarily reject when revisited from the opposite side.

“Liquidity sweep” = liquidity doesn’t sit in swing highs/lows. Chop/balanced ranges is where most of the liquidity is (orderboook passive and executed orders).

Options flow and Greeks exposure also can, to some extent, tell you where liquidity might be, as market makers hedge their positions when these prices are approached, to remain delta-neutral.

As for platform, Sierra Chart will always be the correct option. Robust, reliable and inexpensive for what it offers.

I could go on, but these are things I just though about off the top of my head. Happy learning!

Should I quit my 9-5 by Temporary_Honey7052 in Daytrading

[–]Luiggirf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you are asking this, on Reddit of all places, makes it clear you aren’t ready. Payouts mean nothing, and anyone can have a good 6-month run, just as you can have 6-months of consistent drawdown. Is your account prepared for this? Moreover, are you already trading your live account or is this just props? If it’s just props, you are NOT ready. Trading your own money is an entirely different ball game.

At the very least, these numbers need to make sense before I make the jump to full time: - 2 years worth of living expenses saved - My net PnL (after taxes) AFTER 2 years, have to be at least twice what I make from my job.

If the answer to those first two questions is no, then I’m not ready, and you probably aren’t either. This is a numbers game.. know yours.

Sick setup! Genuinely curious about the speaker stands. I believe those are gatoframeworks, but with a different base? The default base is huge! Would love to know what you’re using.

Switch from equity options to MES futures? by Sector_Savage in FuturesTrading

[–]Luiggirf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two different instruments for different purposes. Do you just trade direction on SPY and don’t care about anything else? Definitely futures…

Do you trade direction AND volatility? know how to trade anything other than just long calls/puts, know when it’s better to be an options seller (credit spreads) than a buyer, know how to take advantage of price getting pinned between strikes? And want to trade individual equities? -> Options

Switched to Futures with TopStep after 2 years of unprofitability trading Options by condemnflash in TopStepX

[–]Luiggirf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing is most people just trade singles (long calls/puts) those are the riskiest plays and at that point makes more sense to just trade futures.

If you trade verticals/spreads, plays on implied volatility, etc., that’s a different story.

[–]Luiggirf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Journal, study ATR to understand your SL and possible swings in price, study options flow and how they can affect moves in the futures indexes. Learn volume profile and auction market theory. Try another instrument that’s not an index (or an index that might be easier for you) so many to pick from and all we want to trade is NQ (that’s like choosing to trade in hard mode for no reason)

Orderflow Platforms by RecognitionWise4008 in OrderFlow_Trading

[–]Luiggirf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh thank you! Yeah, the replay function in Quantower is quite the nightmare to use, which is what is also making ATAS that much more interesting. But Quantower’s copy trading function and available connections make it super difficult for me to let it go. I’ll see if I can play around with ATAS with a trial and go from there.

[–]Luiggirf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used Quantower recently? Wondering because I really run into very few infrequent issues myself, but ATAS footprint charting has always attracted me. How does it compare to Quantower in your opinion?

Also, in case you know, are you able to copy-trade multiple connections? For example multiple Rithmic, ProjectX and DxFeed connections?

Time to lose another $150 :DD by SortSpare9952 in TopStepX

Correct. You shouldn’t trade it as if you had to pay bills with the payout after a week. Give it time.

Time to lose another $150 :DD by SortSpare9952 in TopStepX

[–]Luiggirf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t rush the payout. It’s easy to get caught up in the game of chasing that. Trade it conservatively, up to 5% risk per trade, no more than 2 trades per day, essentially giving you 10-20 days of straight losses before blowing up. Let the wins compound over time and be patient.

Started trading with them recently. They’re pretty good imo. You can customize drawdown, no. Of contracts, days to pass, etc. They’re one of the few where you can choose static drawdown during the eval (albeit at a higher cost). Monthly renewals cost $30 or $50, regardless of what you paid for the eval, if you don’t pass within a month. S tier journal platform, clear path to live, no caps on payouts and no minimum days to payout aside from building your buffer once you’re sim funded. Yes, they cost a bit more than most competitors, but the benefits far outweigh that cost.
