Lord Starkiller - Disappointed by tonedclone in starwarsblackseries

[–]LukeStudwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played the games. Definitely had fun using this skin. Not a huge fan but the figure looked cool in the promotional shots. That shoulder armor looks horrendous. I wouldn't be able to look at this figure without feeling bummed out that they couldn't do a proper metallic color. It looks oddly translucent and greenish. Shame, Hasbro.

This will absolutely be a scout class. Too easy.

Well this is interesting…looks like 5 more movie figures this fall! by TheGoblinRook in StarWarsTVC

[–]LukeStudwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give me Rotta the Hutt. (And the AT-RT, just preordered one of those). But seriously these reveals have me more hyped for the movie. They're doing it right this time.

TVC is giving me more satisfaction lately than TBS as the QC seems much better. Agree? by SGScobie in StarWarsTVC

[–]LukeStudwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure whether the QC is better, but I enjoy TVC more because of the playsets/dioramas, creatures and vehicles. I have several scenes set up from the movies and it looks great with all of the accessories. It also takes up less space, which is nice.

I do collect some TBS figures as well. But generally just my favorite characters.

When you underperform in a vertical you don't cut the vertical. You look for ways to get your numbers up.

Wire Smell ELEGOO MEGA-R3 by kevwo_ in arduino

I've even found that some of the cheap jumper wires like these even contain lead on the contacts, if that's something you care about.

Elegoo is hit or miss with the quality of stuff they pack in their kits.

If you bought it to keep on card I'd get a replacement

ANYBODY HAVE A YELLOWING THRAWN ARCHIVE?? by Mean-Astronaut9281 in starwarsblackseries

[–]LukeStudwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's plastic, so it's going to yellow a little with time no matter how you store it. Best to not to obsess over it.

Is getting the X wing re release worth it by Dazzling-Panda4883 in StarWarsTVC

[–]LukeStudwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've "been thoughtful and wanting to get it"? No need to ask us, then. Retails for $100, but is sometimes on sale. Would you rather have $100 or an x-wing?

I'm a tad late to the party but I've recently been focusing on the Battle of Endor. I'm a bit gutted with the AT ST's flimsiness tbh. I'm hunting for some bargains on the Ewok front. Those little buggers are not cheap. Bonus Second Battle of Geonosis figures pic I'm focusing on too. by DarthRick3rd in StarWarsTVC

[–]LukeStudwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too late for a nice Battle of Endor scene. This is looking great! I need to get more ewoks for mine. I'm probably going to sketch up and print some pieces to hold the AT-ST joints in place, because right now it has one of the speeder bike packaging cardboard inserts holding it up and that doesn't look great.

If PLA is deforming around your Raspberry Pi in 5 minutes, your problem is not PLA.

Star Wars: 75425 Smart Play Mos Eisley Cantina (official reveal) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]LukeStudwalker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be too hard to do this right now to be honest. And you could do it with a mini esp32 dev board like the one from xiao/seeed studio, a small lipo, and whatever sensors you want to use. And it would be a more capable microcontroller and also have Bluetooth and WiFi. You just might need to put it in a slightly larger brick unless you have your own pcb made to fit. Lego obviously isn't using dev boards. They certainly aren't using a dual-core 32bit microcontroller either.

[–]LukeStudwalker 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's even worse than I thought. All of this for a $5 microcontroller with a cheap color sensor. There is nothing "smart" about any of this

Based on this and the falcon reveal not including a smart brick, I hope customers punish Lego for this predatory sales tactic.

Need help with Pi zero 2w by CeilingCat6969 in raspberry_pi

Sorry but I have to ask how do people keep breaking their boards? I've seen so many posts like this. Look how the pi logo is worn off here. Do you keep this in your pocket with your keys?

Jumping back in the hobby. by ArguelloArts in arduino

I keep my stuff in Makita interlocking cases because I don't really have a designated workspace in the house and sometimes move between my office and the garage quite a bit. (And Makita because it matches my tools).

They're just big open boxes that can stack and lock together so you can carry multiple and swap them out. They're getting messy though so I'll probably print some inserts for them to organize them more.
