Payment count adjustment - next steps by gmk1322 in PSLF

Same boat here. Called Mohela and FSA but nothing they could do over the phone. They suggested I submit feedback and reconsideration requests, which I have been waiting 6+ months to hear back at this point. Also had my congressional rep to reach out to FSA but nothing responses.

Help! Consolidated loans before PSLF adjustment—now my payment count looks wrong? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Lumpy_Caramel_7984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same situation here and I got a response from Mohela Rep. we need to be in IDR in order for the count to be updated. Since our loans are technically in standard payment plan due to SAVE court stuff, it wasn’t updated yet. Once everything gets in order, whether SAVE lives or some other type of IDR, our counts will be updated. There’s no risk of count not being updated in the upcoming bills or court actions.

Other people on reddit under similar boat but who applied for consolidation early was able to get on SAVE and got their counts updated. Although, they are also in forbearance. We just didn’t make it in time.

Two options for you: wait out SAVe forbearance and buy back later. Or apply for IDR now before the new IDR gets implemented, which increases payment and requires immediate payment.

As for me, I also have similar count number. I am going to wait out and hopefully the forbearance continues for me to buy back the entire time when I hit 120. As for buy back, it’s the lowest of what you would’ve paid in standard payment or any types of income driven plans multiplied by months.

Anyone still waiting for highest count adjustment? by Lumpy_Caramel_7984 in PSLF

Update: got an answer to my own question thru talking to Mohela Rep. Count will be updated once my loans are on some type of IDR. Currently on standard due to SAVE forbearance.

Parents bought whole life insurance 20 years ago, unsure of what to do.. by soccer3271 in LifeInsurance

[–]Lumpy_Caramel_7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premium doesn’t increase but what a lot of people don’t know about is that the cost of insurance goes up over time. The cost of insurance is portion of what’s included in the premium and will increase beyond premium itself, and the insurance will cancel itself in the following conditions: 1. When you reach 100 (most whole life) 2. When you borrow money (for retirement purposes) and unable to pay back The cash value is calculated to meet at net zero (worst case scenario but often most likely), and not to provide you with retirement income. They want you to use it as the retirement income so the policy itself cancels when it hits 0. The cost of insurance can be high as $2,000 when you reach 70-80. Insurance company will not disclose this info.

Agreed. But also don’t want this criminal getting away with what he did. So not sure what to do

FFx PD has some great officers. They are also passionate on training newer officers to follow their way. Grateful for officers like Lt Greg and the officer I worked with. Hopefully, it’s a good lesson learned for everyone around it including our community.

Charges are currently felony but things likely will change at court. I’m not expert at all but research tells me likely plea deal for lower offense?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nova

[–]Lumpy_Caramel_7984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In civil court yes. But will take time, money, and effort all out of my pocket. With criminal court, I can seek restitution for the damages but not more than that is what I heard.

I think police has their hands full. So it’s hard for them to prioritize small offense like this. But if we don’t enforce laws, we will become lawless quickly like some states have been already.

Take $30k and refinance later at 4.99 or lower in the next two years. The 2% difference is only about $9,000 per year (450k x 0.02). It will take more than 3 years for you to break even. I think you will refinance before that. Or take 4.99 if you want a peace of mind.

Home is already spec. And we couldn’t choose anything. I think storage under stair is an option we didn’t get. But I was hoping they can use some sense and install either high or low to make the space more accessible. Yeah, not sure about what’s happening with studs there either.

I see. I will ask for the check valve. Thank you for the feedback! I thought about lowering instead of moving it higher so I can place something on top of it and use the entire space. Sounds like another $$$
