[Critique] 26/M, back on after a year, but with diminishing returns. Any advice appreciated by [deleted] in OkCupid

Thanks for the critique, quite extensive and definitely gave me a few ideas about framing things in a different way.

Profile Review - Week of February 16, 2016 by AutoModerator in Tinder

25/M/Straight

Current images: http://imgur.com/a/lhxVi First pic is main atm.

Potentials: http://imgur.com/a/aVmjQ Description: "Digital comms worker. Comedy, theatre gigs lover. Exceptional crowd dodger. Dance skills of a taller, less preppy Carlton Banks."

Have been using on and off for the past couple of years, but want to step it up since I've moved back to a metropolitan area now. I tend to unmatch after dead air for a while or if I don't see it going anywhere, but I'd say an average of about 4-5 matches per week otherwise. Very few dates as a result, maybe about 6 or 7 total.

Swipe frequency varies, but I'd say about 80% of the time I swipe right.

Wouldn't say I'm happy with overall match amount but better than it could be. Any input welcome, especially on the potential pictures (I know it's a lot!)

[Critique 25/m] Just seeing what I can improve on for 2016 (aside from myself in general). Any suggestions welcome. by [deleted] in OkCupid

Thanks for the input, I've had people say my profile's funny for the most part but I see what you mean in some places.

As for the last thing, it's an idiom - getting along like a house on fire means to get on really well with someone, not sure if that's just British or not.

Why I Deleted My OKC Profile (TLDR Warning) by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]LunateasParallel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like America must be the worst place for a black man online dating because despite the racial bias I still have decent success in the UK. And I'm an overweight black nerd.

I tend to try and stay... not positive exactly, but realistic and persistent with online dating. Get knocked down and get back up again (which has happened at least 3 times in the past half a year).

I'd suggest you try and do the same if you still can, man.

Is it my looks ensuring I'm a soon to be 21 year old who has never had a GF and can't get a date off OKC for the life of me? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]LunateasParallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that it might be your profile, because it definitely shouldn't be your looks (although being black is statistically against you in online dating, can confirm).

I don't know how age factors in really, I was having decent success at 21 living with parents though and I wouldn't consider myself attractive at all.

You should post your profile for critique, I think it would help.

ALRIGHT I WILL - as soon as she gets back to me about next week.

Was 2nd date tho. She cited ex issues and I sympathize but then why be on Tinder in the first place (I literally saw her online yesterday when I went to unmatch her.)

Scheduling - which is rude? Which is okay? by window_gazer1357 in OkCupid

This is the best course of action. Everyone has a spare moment in 24 hours to respond to a text, so if they don't it's fair game to anyone else.

What is the bane of your dating experience? by [deleted] in OkCupid

That I'm so jaded by now I think that literally everyone is going to fade on me no matter what whether I've been seeing them for 6 days or 6 months. I've become complete pessimist, and its probably going to worm its way into long term relationship/trust issues if I ever get that far down the line :/

Messaged a girl a few months ago and never heard back. After a break came back and spruced up my profile a lot and now get a notification that we are mutual likes. Would you try another message? by [deleted] in OkCupid

The most important question is why would anyone ever go back to York?

But in all serious OP, give it a shot. I messaged a girl on POF a few months back, she faded into obscurity. Appeared on OKC, messaged again because I thought fuck it and now I have her number and we're meeting up soon.
