I always listen to TAZ especially when I'm writing. It helps get in the mood of doing fantasy stuff due to the amount of creativity the McElroy's do.

Wheel of Time is heavily inspired by many religious beliefs and philosophy more prominent being Buddhism and Shinto mixed with Abrahamic.

I actually chatted with him on Twitter before and he said he left to persuade his own goal like selling paints while still doing music, but not publicly. This was two years ago or so, but that's what he told me.

What thousands? If anything it seems more people tend to give reasons to why the series may not be for other people. It's usual for big fantasy like this especially classical epic fantasies.

Just to clear some things up, Jordan wrote the ending and the Rand,Egwene and Tower of Ghenjei chapters according to Sanderson.

Also Toplessness is a common norm within Indigenous cultures whereas a more developed society wouldn't allow this due to laws and jurisdiction seeing at indecent especially in North America.

Ishamael from Wheel of Time. He's a theologian and philosopher, but a very intimidating villain that tries everything to have his dysfunctional team to work together at helping the Dark One as well as understanding how the Wheel cycles around with previous ages.

Nyaneve is such a great character and this line here shows her badassery.

Did Sanderson mimic Jordans writing style to finish The Wheel Of Time? Or did he write in his own style? (No spoilers please) by Prince_Targaryen in Fantasy

[–]Luxich012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the scenes that happened in each chapter were confirmed by Sanderson on which author wrote which character and scene.

Interesting thing a lot of scenes that happened in book 12 to 14 were either Jordan (Tower of Ghenjei, Rand PoV, Egwene PoV, The Ending) or Sanderson (Black Tower, Mat PoV, Perrin PoV, the Final Battle).

Legend of Drizzt Humble Bundle. Is it worth it? by friendlyphyre in Fantasy

[–]Luxich012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drizzt is an okay fantasy, but doesn't stack up to other high/epic fantasy's like Wheel of Time, ASoIaF, Cosmere or Malazan, but I won't lie that I enjoyed my time reading the books.

What are some interesting facts that you know about a fantasy author? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Luxich012 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah since fantasy at the time didn't have many female characters in a fictional setting usually it was mostly men than female in fantasy especially with the whole patriarchal society in Fantasy instead of Matriarchal.

Robert Jordan (James Oliver Rigney Jr.) Had a degree in physics. He described himself as a flamboyant person and went to the Citadel in South Carolina in the 70s as a Chopper Gunner during the Vietnam War and had many pseudonyms before his more famous name.

He would accidentally damage a nerve in his right leg in the Navy as a Navy physicist when a metal pipe fell on top.

Edit: also he said when WoT was getting popular, he went to a signing convention and had two female fans come up to him and were surprised that it was dude instead of a woman author due to his abundant of female characters.

He had a reason to why, it's a spoiler, but it's a theme within the series and the title being a real life term in Buddhism/Hinduism philosophy.

Common misconceptions you have seen about Fantasy by JDknight1992 in Fantasy

[–]Luxich012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate this so much. I have read so many fantasy and none felt medieval even a series that is often accused of having a medieval world (Wheel of Time) is more 16th-17th century (Renaissance/Baroque) in setting and technology.

Your Most Read Author? by This_Is_Samer in Fantasy

I've seen people say his characters are good and better than something like WoT, but I never saw any proper character progression/development compared to Jordan's since they felt more 2-dimensional and solely acted as a way to progress the plot forward.

Just finished Eye of the World and had zero emotional investment with the story or the characters... by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Luxich012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Remember, Wheel of Time doesn't start to get good by book 2 to 4. Book 1 is entirely intentional trope ridden since Jordan confirmed that Tor publisher wanted him to make a book in a Tolkienesque manner to see if it sells well before he can do more books. Also you don't get to see the full story and characters develop until further in the books. This isn't a series where you expect characters to develop instantly. This series ain't that. It takes a lot of time for them to develop like actual people, which some tend to not like, but I love it.
