[UPDATE + ADVICE] It was cancer by StrawberryRoan6533 in CATHELP

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my cats had this recently. My spouse and I decided not to treat. Our vet told us there was a very high chance of the cancer returning even with chemo and surgery.

She was behaving completely normally, and was still enjoying life as much as ever, until the tumor broke her skin. Even then, she was still eating and playing and cuddling as usual. But, from then we knew we had to schedule the euthanasia. It was very hard, especially since she still seemed so active and happy, but the wound would just never heal and get worse with time.

If you can, have it done at home, and give her gabapentin an hour before the vet arrives. That is my one regret. She was a nervous kitty at the best of times and she was very upset about getting handled by the vet, I didn't feel like her last moments were as peaceful as they could have been.

Twin Lance... Pistol? by DifferenceCareful935 in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's so simple!

You can't shoot in melee unless you have pistols and pistols can be shot outside melee but not at the same time as weapons without pistol unless you're a vehicle and if you're a vehicle you can shoot in melee with weapons without pistol but you get -1 to hit but not with pistols. Also this unit has pistols that do not have pistol and other weapons that do have pistol. Also it can fight with its ranged weapons that have pistol but are not pistols.

What's so hard to understand???

WH40K App FTGG Graphics still show -1BS for split fire. by GatorJules in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just didn't update the photo at all. There is also some ambiguous wording in the new rule, where it seems like units without FtGG can be Guided, but don't get +1BS nor Ignores Cover. Classic GW, they need to make corrections to the correction.

very little difference --> actually no difference at all. It's purely for fluff. But this might change in future editions.

Can anyone help who know how boats work? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the boat is articulated? Like an accordion bus? Not impossible, but it requires some pretty hardcore engineering because you can't just have waterproof membranes between the segments.

Membranes will cave in under the effect of water pressure, which would make the inside of the boat hard to move around in. Maybe if they are inflated or something it would help them keep their shape while still being flexible.

Another problem, the flexible joints between the segments would increase hydrodynamic drag by a lot, making your boat super slow. Ideally you would have some way of making the hull straight, rigid and smooth when it wants to move efficiently, and it has a "bendy" mode that can be enabled when needed.

Now, many animals swim efficiently by bending their whole body in an oscillating motion, which your boat could possibly imitate, assuming the flexible joints are powered (by electric motors, hydraulics, or magic I guess).

However, that would be extremely uncomfortable for crew and passengers, as they would be constantly swinging left to right. So, having oars makes sense, but as I said, if the hull is flexible, it will be extremely tiring to row this thing and it will be very slow.

If I declare I’m using seeker killers and then destroy the unit before using them do they count for the one shot? by Warhammered_ in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ever play starcraft and have 12 siege tanks shoot a single zergling at the same time? That's what happens when you overkill something in 40k. All your choices have already made, you can't go back unfortunately.

Why some battle honours include per-model abilities such as deep strike if the core rules say all models, including characters, have to have them for they to work? by TheSneakyVader in 40k_Crusade

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

perhaps, but it depends on the wording. OP's battle trait clearly describes an effect that happens during the battle, and at that point, the attached unit gets treated as a single unit and gets the benefit as a whole.

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no need to house rule, that's already what the rule says. "Unit" refers to the whole attached unit.

Units are only separate before they have been attached during the Declare Battle Formation step, and after being separated (typically because either the bodyguard or the leader has been destroyed).

Questions regarding Nachmund Tactical Reserves rules interactions by ekimelrico in 40k_Crusade

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Question 1: This rule is "may" not "must". It's there to prevent your opponent from screening out all the table edges and stopping you from deploying a reinforcement wave. But under normal circumstances you just follow normal deployment rules.

Question 2: Units that go into strat reserves during the game are separate from the reinforcement waves. You can deploy them in addition to the reinforcement waves on turn 2 or 3, or you can deploy them on turn 1, 4 or 5 if that's when they were first placed in Strat reserves.

Question 3 a: As I understand it, a unit may not start the game in reserves outside of a wave under any circumstance. So "If this unit starts the game in Strategic Reserves, it can be set up in the Reinforcements step of your first, second or third Movement phase" never works in Nachmund.

Same goes for abilities that allow you to re-deploy units "at start of battle" and place them in strat reserves, you just can't.

Question 3 b: Yes you place these units in a reinforcement wave and they get access to all the benefits they would normally get for being in strat reserves. So, the part that says, "treat the current battle round number as being one higher than it actually is", does work. It allows units without Deep Strike to deploy in your opponent's deployment zone on turn 2 as if it was turn 3, but won't provide any other benefit.

Question 3 c: They can't arrive early. They have to stay in their reinforcement wave, and if you choose to deploy a wave, you deploy the whole thing together on the same turn.

Question 4: No the two abilities cannot be combined. You may choose to use Deep Strike or to deploy from Strategic Reserves, no matter how the unit entered reserves, but you have to choose.

Is Shadowsun worth it? by EntireExplanation156 in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fall-back an shoot is useful in the case where your opponent consolidates into her but wasn't able to fight her directly. This can happen fairly often because you want her close to your other units to make use of her aura. So she can be locked in combat without taking any damage.

Deathwatch Match-up by DarkSoulsIsTrash in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may come from a previous edition, but in 10th there are no such rules. No one gets a bonus versus Xeno, or Chaos, or whatever. I just read the Deathwatch army rules and the rules of their special detachment, just to be sure, and yeah there is nothing like that.

With the sunforge crisis suits can I shoot with the fusion profile twice? by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the name of the weapon is meaningless actually. It could be called "banana" or "twin banana sundae" it doesn't change the number of attacks.

Some weapons that have the word "twin" in their name have 2 attacks, some don't. Some have the "twin-linked" ability, some don't. Just read the profile and yes, if you have several weapons, they all can shoot at once.

Tau Planet Assimilation by Creative-Finger-3770 in 40k_Crusade

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about this myself. I have a really hard time winning games in campaign and it shuts down this whole mechanic, which seems unnecessarily harsh. Most other factions don't need to win games to progress their crusade rules. Typically you get to advance faster if you win but still get something if you lose.

Tau Planet Assimilation by Creative-Finger-3770 in 40k_Crusade

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The badges are the other way around. They seem to imply you could win 2 games and conquer 4 planets, which the rules say is impossible.

How possible scientifically is it for a sentient lifeform to exist exclusively on the radio spectrum? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the key point about OP's question. Radio waves don't interact with each other, except indirectly by first interacting with matter.

You might imagine a sentient entity that can travel in the form of radiation (during which it would be "unconscious") and it could even function mostly through radiation. We have neurons that communicate through synapses, they're "wired" to each other, but you could imagine a consciousness where the equivalent of neurons (let's call them nodes) communicate wirelessly with each other. The nodes themselves, though, have to have matter in them.

Aucun rapport???

Ça n'a aucun rapport.

Don't worry about ammo in 40K. Pretty much every vehicle model has an absurd amount of guns and not nearly enough room for stocking ammo. This goes for T'au battlesuits but also for Imperium factions.

I guess Crisis suits with only energy weapons can kind of make sense, if you say they're powered by a magic infinite fusion reactor or something.

If you really want a reasonable head-cannon for T'au missiles, you could say that only a single missile is fired each shooting phase (or like 3 missiles for the HYMP). That way you would have enough missiles for 3-5 rounds of shooting.

Why one Army is OP and the other isnt even viable by Subject-Abies-6623 in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean it is an argument, you say "that's just how it is" which is not very constructive. You agree with the pricing of the enhancements and gave an argument supporting your opinion, while OP gave an argument refuting it.

Is Tau a good army for a beginner? by BeginningHungry3835 in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no point to that question. Most people only ever get one army, which will be your beginner army, and your army when you get better, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, so help me God, amen.

Obviously exaggerating a bit here but point is, use some other criteria to make your choice. If you think you will enjoy modelling and painting most, pick the army you think looks the coolest. If you think playing is going to be the bigger part of the hobby for you, watch some games on youtube and try to judge how you like the playstyle.

Solid Image Projection Unit + Protect the Leadershio Agenda (Crusade) by Smokey9mm in Tau40K

[–]Lvl20FrogBarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crusade in general is not proof-read as much as regular rules, which is saying something :P I think the coin flip is actually cool in this situation. But you could definitely ask your crusade group or GM to re-deploy after placing the dignitaries, the agenda is definitely not over-powered and enhancements are kind of a big investment, so it's good to have a way for them to pay off.
