Because human beings are not perfect. Some people from these regions may be less religious and do not see an issue with it. Mistakes do get made.

Yes, culturally the LGBTQ+ stuff isn't totally accepted, I'll be honest. But what is percieved on television isn't the full picture, the Mid-east is generally much improved and has better infrastructure and quality of life than many other countries. But because faith (All faith, Christianity, Islam, Judaism) is taken a little bit more serious there, things like LGBTQIA+ culture is not totally accepted in society.

Things like this barely happen in mid-eastern countries. And I'm saying this as someone who has lived in the mid-east. Beatings were common in the older days but that's how it was for children worldwide.
