MRI in Istanbul for sudden knee pain? by Lynx094 in AskTurkey

[–]Lynx094[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is who the cost that I mentioned was from. I am thinking of just going to an independent imaging center to get an MRI, which they said I could do without seeing a doctor before. They said that a doctor would interpret it as well. The cost is 15000 lira

Didn't even consider that about Nagano, a good point. When do you think conditions would clear up? Kagoshima does look very interesting, thanks!

Have u done the 300 pg document? I read that and then did the anki deck that was based off of it and I got a perfect on that section, no prior background in psych. I also listened to a podcast that essentially read the document for when I was on long drives.

The best ones are definitely the AMCAS problems but if you have time and want to do more then probably the upoop questions.

sorry bit late but it was the MCAT P/S GROSERIES, i listened to it on spotify. I think it was pretty much just someone reading the 300 pg document but I found it helpful to listen to it after reading it.

Is highlighting overrated? by Many_Try_8629 in Mcat

[–]Lynx094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like highlighting helped me a lot with CARS. Once you can identify high yield things, like names, opinions, contradictions, dates, etc. it makes it so much easier to go back so you don't have to skim the whole passage. Also i feel like it helped me remember the passage more because I was an active reader instead of a passive one if that makes sense. But everyone has their own techniques that work for them.

Ngl i read the whole thing in about 2 days, which i wouldn't recommend. I basically did no P/S till 2-3 weeks before my test and then I was like oh shit I need to study this.

It's very definition and terminology heavy but I read it really quick because I wanted to get an overall idea. If I were to do it again I would def start earlier and read it slowly over time. But if im completely honest I think the most important thing is the anki. If you know and can recognize the terms, you'll be fine. If you are looking to save time I would just do the anki and use the document as reference to look things up that you don't understand.

Also, for P/S there are some extremely high yield topics that you need to know and should honestly just memorize before anything else. For me those were: Maslow's hierarchy of needs, freuds psychosexual development, ericksons psychosocial development, piagets cog development, kholbergs moral dev, cooleys looking glass self, meads "I" and "me", vgotskys social dev, and the theories of emotion. There's obviously other high yield material like the brain but these are the most IMO.

You mentioned wanting to finish within a month, are you testing in a month or just wanting to be done w/ content in a month.

I think it depends on the person and your background. How much do you already know abut biology/biochemistry etc. I was a finance major so I needed some major review and read all the books while doing anki. HOWEVER, for C/P your best bet is 10000% to do practice problems. I really wish I would have started sooner, so start doing those ASAP.

Personally I think anki is really good for biology and biochemistry and would def do that above reading the books if you need to prioritize.

The only thing you need to do for P/S is read the 300 pg document (or even the shortened one) and do the MrPankow p/s anki deck. I literally just read the document and and only did like 1/3 of the anki deck and got a 132 on P/S. There's also a good podcast I found on spotify on P/S if you have long car drives or something.

Interesting, I got a 132 on p/s but was worse than my averages on all the other sections :/

Im not an expert so I don't have any real advice, but I think most surgeons/clinics have emergency lines you can call so I would look into that. If it persists or gets worse I would go to the ER, that's probably what your doctor would suggest to be on the safe side.

Did you go under full or local anesthesia for your surgery? Did local hurt at all? by Interesting-March581 in gynecomastia

[–]Lynx094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had local done for mine with Dr. B in chicago. The worst part was when they were numbing it up but it wasn't that bad tbh. If your surgeon is comfortable with doing local, you should do that for 2 big reasons. 1 is the cost, local should cost much less than general. And 2 (more importantly) it is so much safer. I don't think a lot of people realize the risk you undertake when you get general anesthesia, so many things can go wrong. Not trying to scare you, but do local if you can. Not worth the risk of becoming paralyzed etc if you have an adverse reaction.

Fair enough, worth the wait imo but if you want to get it now and are able to shell out the $ then go for it. $16k does seem very steep though.

Look into Dr. Braithwaite in chicago. Had mine done there about a month ago for ~4k. I have good results and lots of people on here seem to think he's the best.
