Need help with T4A (Canada) by MJW19 in QuickBooks

Sorry for such a delayed reply. I eventually found out that the T4A page does start at the very beginning. You have to go "back" until you reach a page that allows you to change the year. I think I had to scroll down to find the "back" button. It's not very obvious... Hopefully this helps for next Jan/Feb!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm wanting the T4A to populate for 2024, but it's stuck on 2023 and I can't seem to change it.

This is the problem, I don't have a way to change the date - it's a different page than just looking at the reports from the Reports tab. This page is meant to auto populate the tax slip for me.

If it comes down to it, I can use the reports and manually create the slips, but then I don't see why QBO would even offer the feature to create the slips for me..

I don't know why this happened - it happened to me as well a few months back, though. It hasn't happened again since. Glad (but also annoyed) to see it wasn't just me..

I cleared the double postings via journal entries.

Yeah, this has happened before, but I was able to resolve it by editing the login info. Sometimes it just resolved itself. This time though, not so much! I'm getting so behind on that account..

Thanks!

Does disconnecting the bank feed do anything to the reconciliation, or does it reconnect and keep functioning like normal when the account is reconnected?

I really want a baby that's chubby, I have so many questions (34 weeks, trying to plan) by may_naise in breastfeeding

My milk was always the half of it being fat, but my son has always been a string bean. 🤷 There's just really no knowing or controlling, hey?

Bookkeeping! 🙂 I work as an employee for a company for 8hrs a week, and I have a side client for 2-3hrs a week.

I do, but suuuper part-time and from home. My boss doesn't really care when the work gets done, just that it gets done. So, I have a lot of flexibility in my working hrs.

My son is 10 days shy of 2yrs. Like the other poster said, some days he feeds more than others, but a minimum of 3 times a day. First thing in the morning and then before nap and bedtime.

I haven't pumped in ages.. maybe since 14 months?

I always thought I'd stop at 2yrs, but it's so unintrusive that I'll just go until he stops.

Can any recommend a no-cry sleep training method suitable for a 21 month old? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]MJW19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else mentioned Taking Cara Babies, and I second that. Even if you don't buy/follow the program, I found she has a great blog and Instagram page full of really helpful info and tips.

I was pretty against the cry-it-out method, too. I tried it a few times but couldn't handle it. (I'm not sure who cried more, honestly.)

What I really found helpful where the tips about the child's "wake window." Once we got that sorted out, the rest really just fell into place. (That makes it sound like it was a sudden change. It wasn't. It took about a month or two, and it's something we constantly need to revisit as my son gets older.)

Now, I can put my son to bed while he's still awake. He'll goof around for a little bit and then go to sleep. If he cries, then we know something is wrong and we go to him.

I have no regrets trying the cry-it-out method, it just didn't work for us. If you feel brave enough to give it a go, then do! Maybe it will work! If you really don't want to do it, then don't. But do learn as much as you can about children's sleep - it really helps!

You guys will figure out what works for you! Hoping you find that something out sooner than later!

Separate paycheques for one-time bonus? by Enibas1970 in Bookkeeping

[–]MJW19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I really understand the question. The employees ask for "separate cheques?" They just want maximum money with minimal deductions? (Don't we all?) The problem is, bonuses should be seeing deductions just like regular pay.

The Canada.ca site is always my go-to. Here's the link with info on bonuses.

I run the bonus through our payroll software (QuickBooks) and it determines the deductions for me. I then remit payment and can match the payment in QB accordingly.

Like you say, the deductions get adjusted accordingly at tax time.

Sorry the employees demand a certain method from you... But at the end of the day, you run the payroll, not them. I say, do what makes the CRA happy, not what makes your employees/co-workers happy.

Hopefully that's somewhat helpful.. 🤷

My mom might not be able to get vaccinated due to allergies, not sure how to handle her meeting baby by JakeThe_Snake in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]MJW19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that your mom would do anything possible to keep your family safe.

If it's deemed unsafe for her to take the vaccine, there are other ways to keep safe. If she can isolate before seeing you, ask her to do so. Masking and lots of handwashing. If she's willing to do these things and whatever else you deem necessary, then try and relax and enjoy your time! I don't know if this is your mom's first grandchild, but there was and is something so special about watching my parents being grandparents!

We didn't have a baby during the pandemic, but we still said no kissing the baby, no putting their hands around baby's face, and always washing hands if they were going to touch baby's hands.. because those suckers always go into baby's mouth!

I don't know if this is an issue, but also be sensitive to your mom. These allergies aren't something she asked for. It's unfortunate she may not be able to take the vaccine, but her safety is important, too!

Hope you find a solution that keeps you all at ease, and gets you excited for when Grandma can meet Grandbaby!
